Description
Been a while since I posted anything related to Steven Universe, so I decided to draw the RG-verse version of the titular protagonist. He is from RG's dimensional and chronological equivalent of SU's time frame.

Steven "Universe" DeMayo (alternatively Steven "Quartz" Universe), is a young boy who lives in Beach City, and is a member of a team of extraterrestrial guardians known as the "Crystal Gems". The three guardians, Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl, act as his mentors and mother figures, and do everything in their power to prepare Steven for his future as the new leader. He is perhaps one of the kindest souls that has ever blessed the universe itself, and a true hero in the making. He doesn't look much like it, but Steven has many qualities that define a hero, even if he isn't really quite ready to be one yet. He believes in redemption, that all people and creatures have at least some good in them no matter how awful they may seem on the outside. He is also generous, and is even willing to give even if it is at the cost of his own well-being, unless it's something like Ranger Guy. He always does what he believes is the the right thing to do, even if he has a little trouble telling right from wrong (blame Amethyst for that). He's generally friendly around everyone, though he gets a bit hostile if someone insults his deceased mother.

Despite his appearance, he is not actually pure human. He is what is colloquially known as an "Elucidate", a genetic hybrid of an organic life form and a gem. He is the first of his kind, and his actions as a crystal gem would determine the fate of the Earth itself, as well as the future of gemkind as a whole. This is due to his legendary heritage. His mother happens to be Rose Quartz, a legendary war hero who fought and won a major war several millennia ago. She fell in love with a human named Greg DeMayo, and she gave up her own corporeal form in order to give birth to Steven. As a result, he inherits her gemstone, weapon and some of her abilities, but due to his hybrid nature, he also possesses a few abilities unique to elucidates alone.

He inherited Rose's shield as well as her healing tears, though in his case it is in the form of healing saliva. He can also use his saliva to bring plants to life (that's how watermelon Stevens came to be). He can also shapeshift, though it is harmful to him if he tries to mimic other living organisms. However, he can manipulate his anatomy fairly well, though he doesn't use this ability often. Unlike pure gems, Steven can also use his shapeshifting to change the pigmentation and color of his skin completely. He is fully capable of fusing with both gems and humans. When using his shield or while fusing, his hair becomes a shade of pink similar to that of his mother.

His nature as an elucidate (gem/organic hybrid) also gives him unique biological aspects unseen in genetically pure humans. He ages at a much slower rate than an average human should, and may be to some extent biologically immortal; by the time he was 14, his body was still biologically 12 years old, though he did start growing small amounts of facial hair since then. He also has an unusual metabolism, as he doesn't seem to gain any weight regardless of the amount of the food he consumes. This makes his pudgy frame seem almost impossible, but his robust body is actually a trait inherited from Rose. His gem ancestry also influenced other aspects of his physical anatomy, but most of these features are practically unnoticeable without an X-ray. For instance, despite being biologically male, his skeletal proportions are vaguely feminine, with a broader pelvic region and a slightly smaller ribcage. This is an inherited gem trait, and because gems are generally feminine in shape and appearance despite being sexless, more feminine skeletal proportions are inevitable for elucidates regardless of their biological sex. The arrangement of his toes, for one, are slightly different, with the big toe being the second metatarsal instead of the hallux like in other humans. He also has 30 ribs, 8 neck vertebrae, two extra pairs of molars, and a fully functional appendix. While not at the same level as a normal gem, Steven does have rather high stamina and endurance. Not only that, but he also has the ability to survive in conditions that would kill a human, coping with said conditions in ways similar to extremophile organisms. In the absence of breathable air or if depraved of all sustenance for long periods of time, his body goes into a form of indefinite stasis and rapidly calcifies, not waking up until the required resource is present.
