This is very nice, I like the angle of the face. Did you paint this from life? The face is nicely painted, but because the colors throughout the whole picture are the same, the subject disappears. Since the subject is painted with purple, the background could have been blue or green (or any other color that would contrast well with purple).

Thanks! I drew myself using mirrors and the colors I actually just threw later from my mind.

Hmm. Assingment for this pic was "symbolistic self-portrait", thats why the color choices I guess. I wanted the figure to be neutral colored. I tried to emphasise the figure by painting the bottom part of the backgroung more intense with greenish purple. I wonder if I had used more green in the figure's shading instead of your suggesting background...
