Mere Mal Faire is a recurring character in my gallery. Originally, she was a character in this story I was thinking of writing.

The story follows some characters after the end of the world/judgement day/apocalypse/whatever. The fabric of reality has partially collapsed, whole populations simply disappearing. An army of vampires, werewolves, and assorted damned souls emerge from hell to round up the remaining humans and establish a new reality, under a new god (the devil).

The twist was that conventional morality had nothing to do with a soul's placement in the afterlife, hell being populated mostly with ordinary "good" people. Many devout. It is also revealed that hell wasn't a place of punishment per se. These souls were trained in various wargames for hundreds of years to prepare for this moment (they have to fight off various multidimensional beings entering into the weakened reality).

Mere had superhuman strength and reflexes, greater than that of a typical vampire. She could endure sunlight and had a soul that followed her around separate from her body (with a different personality though the two could share thoughts over a distance). She's pictured here with a sentient demonic bullwhip and a metal yaming (a type of tapered stick used in some styles of Filipino stickfighting). Never wrote the story but the character stuck with me.
