Very well. It is thoroughly awesome. May have to go back and see it again. I speak very little Japanese and of course there were no subtitles. Didn't matter at all, I could still understand the whole plot. The actors were phenomenal, the sword fights were spectacular, the music was beyond perfect. Sato-san is an AMAZING Kenshin. His emotion and body language really sold the character. Sano's major fight of the movie was hysterically awesome. At least half of it took place in a kitchen, and you know it must have been a riot to destroy that room the way they did. The Jin'eh battle was intense and breath-taking, both the sword fighting and the dialogue. Kaoru was excellent and Emi-san had great chemistry with Sato-san. Yahiko was just adorable. There is a hilarious line of his (that I did understand) where he comes in for breakfast, takes a look at the food and says, "Okay, rice by Megumi...Miso soup by Kenshin... and *sigh when he sees the fish is horribly burned* fish by Kaoru." We cracked up. The villians were perfect. Kanryu Takeda is an utter slimeball and Jin'eh is just freaky (his EYES!!!).
Wow that got long. So yeah, it's an awesome movie. It is so cool to watch Sato-san portray both sides of the character, Kenshin and Battosai; and without exception, every sakabatou fight was just amazing. Movie is highly recommended if you ever get the chance. ^_^
