Well, add 4 more days of working on it, and this be what you get...Since I promised, here's the characters. Keep in mind- some of them are NOT my creations, but they had no names, so I named them. Feel free to read about them, or not, as you see fit.:
Taizou Hori/Dig Dug: The hero of the game. After returning home to his old farm, he found the crops gone, and one lone pooka eating the last of his flowers. He chased this pooka right down to the center of the Earth in a murderous rage, and now he's stuck in the middle of a huge conflict between the Pookas and Fygars.
Susumu Hori/Mr. Driller: Dig Dug's son. This little tyke followed his father, and is willing to help him out in any way he can.
No real name yet/Mrs. Dig Dug(The female in the purple/green suit.): Dig Dug's wife, and none too shabby a monster hunter herself. She's got a lot of seperate missions she's got to complete.
No real name yet/ Dug Dig(The one with the mustache and black/white suit.): The Wario to Dig Dug's Mario, this guy keeps on causing trouble for our heroes.
Pico(The pooka with the blue goggles): This guy is pretty friendly and willing to offer information and stuff.
Naps(The purple guy who's asleep): A rather dimwitted monster. This guy tends to fall asleep at times. He's also slow and easy to kill.
Pookapiller(The catipiller guy): A monster who is always hungry, vicious, and ill tempered.
Unicorner(The yellow guy with the horn): Charges you whenever he sees you.
Pooka(You know what it looks like- cute): A subterranian creature wearing googles. Be careful- they may be cute, but their stingers are deadly.
Lavabeast(The goo monster next to the pooka.): A shapeshifting monster whos meer touch could reduce anything to a pile of ashes.
Fygar(The Dragon): These guys are able to breathe fire. They are also the local bullies of the underground world.
Mechafygar(the robot dragon): a new secret weapon. Practically unstoppable.
Boombot (The battery-like guy): A robot that explodes when you pop it. Can take out anybody in its blast radius.
Excavator(The bomberman-like robot.): A robot driller that's armed with a pump of it's own and can give Dig Dug a dose of his own medicine if your not careful.
Princess Bik(The baby dragon): Future ruler of the fygars, she's kind of a spoiled brat.
Pacdude (Try to find him- he's there.): Huh? What's a Pac Man guy doing in a Dig Dug world?

Yeah, I've been continuing it for a long time really... kind of shy about putting stuff on DA anymore- sort of a long story.
Mostly what Namco did lately is sort of what they've been doing with him in the Mr. Driller games. I guess technically it's not so much changing up his personality, since technically with his original games he didn't have one, but it's like when you have a character with no personality and originally you go with giving them a bit of yours. It's hard to explain- I guess the right wording would be that they've been trying to elaborate his personality and it's different from how I imagined it when I was a kid playing the original games.

A friend of mine keeps on telling me to pursue Subtyrrany, but I'm shy about it. Especially since Namco's sort of changed up Dig Dugs personality on me.

I see pacdude! This is so awsome, how are you at animation? Because this would make an amazing cartoon! You know, Mario and Sonic got there own shows, why not DigDug? I love your Mrs. DigDug, I can hear exactly how she would sound like in my head. Wonderfull, bright and clear colouring, full of life and enargy, an awsome picture.
On second thoughts, if you can't animate, this would also make a supereb comic book

yeah.anyways, it's like a saturday morning cartoon. like robonson sucrose.
i've got an idea for a charater. his name football soccer, and he's a football fantic (he likes both soccer and football.). he got a whole team to play with and he takes baby pookas and frygar eggs and uses them as game balls. his looks is sorta like a cross between bomberman and ryu from street fighter.

told me the whole story, btw. The thing was, I created Mrs. Dig Dug mostly due to liking Dig Dug, but also liking Ms. Pacman, so I had comics of this stuff happening long ago. Also, apparently according to the story they devorced, so I changed the origin story a bit...

Seen this picture on your front page so many times, about time I gave you my view on it.
You know I'm a sucker for group shots like these, and I really dig (no pun intended) your whole take on this classic game. I mean, I can't begin to imagine how long it took for you to come up with all these character names/bios (apart from the already named ones, that is). In another world, this would be a Saturday morning cartoon, for sure.

Now I have seen some of the gameplay videos of this game, I must say... in its simplicity this game has really complex concept and awesome gameplay. However, I would hate to see brand new contemporary 3D super detailed version-----after all, you defeat enemies by pumping air up their arses until they explode!

Same here. Even from a fandom standpoint with this game idea, if (fat chance) Namco actually gave me and a crack team of programers the green light to do something like this, I'd keep everything cartoony, brightly colored, and funny.
After all, that's what made me fall in love with this game in the first place.

Interesting Pac-Man is there, as back in the 80s my backstory for Dig Dughad had Pac-Mans race, the Packri living on the moon of Dig Dug's (AKA Digger Douglas. I didnt know the Taizo thing till recently) Home planet (Where other video game heroes such as the Megaman lived)
The Fygar's were prehistoric beasts hibernating which were discovered by the P'uuka, interdimensionals troublemakers and were used to cause trouble by them. (As the race called themselves, Pooka being a phonetic thing)
Dig Dug was hired by Pac-Man himself to defend the Packri. His weapon was a microwave gun that destabilized the P'uuka and Fygar's dimensional frequency matrix, sending them all back to the P'uuka's home dimension. The "Pop" was just a visual distortionn.
Hadnt thought about that in years.

Well, I'm kind of mixed on the Taizo thing. Thing is, Taizo is his name for the Mr. Driller series, and in that he's kind of a washed-up hasbeen who's still trying to regain the fame and popularity he had before. If you've ever played Dig Dug Drilling Strike (Which is VERY fun, kind of a mix between Dig Dug 1 and 2.) Taizo tries to defeat all the monsters by himself to prove that he's still got it, but just cause Susumu "helps him" (Damn kid never even sets foot on the ground, he floats around in a helicopter), HE gets all the credit. As a result, I'm kind of against Taizo for that damn ending...
Anyway, nice backstory. I have my own that I wanted to put in comic book form. Basically, Dig Dug was formally a gardener, and one day he found out that there were Pookas(Normally harmless, but they have a venomous stinger on their tails for when they feel threatened) and Fygars(Fygars bully Pookas in my stuff, so it's kind of like a bunch of small kids being bullied by big kids into attacking everyone.) running amuck under the ground. That's part of where Dig Dug Subterrany goes...
Pac-Land is relatively near Dig Dug's country, so he's kind of familure to the Pac-people... But Pac-dudes a punk.
