Description
Gideon looked out over the wide and massive expanse of exotic trees.

The rainforest always looked so beautiful. The heat was perfect. And the food was plentiful.

At least...that's how it was for the royals. The teen frowned and gripped his arms tightly, folded firmly over his chest. In his own colony, every day was a constant struggle for survival. The pyramid they lived in was falling apart and in an area that Humans had onced walked through. Very few prey could be found, unless they went into royal territory and risk being killed on sight.

That...damned prissy colony. Always looking down upon others who didn't share their status of royalty. One of these days, his colony would fly over there. Kill the king and his lineage. And take the royal pyramid as their own home. Soon...they would be the rulers of the south.

"Gideon, sir?" And old voice cut into his thoughts. The teen turned his eyes to an old, elderly Vampyrum, looking at him with a gaze of respect.

"What is it?" He simply asked, looking back at the view of the rainforest. The old bat simply sighed, looking at the landscape with him.

"It's...been four days since your father's passing." He answered softly, "Have you had time to grieve for his loss?"

Gideon only remained silent at his words. He never grieved. He never cried. He didn't even shed a single tear. His father had taught him that no matter how hard the days might get, whether it be hunger and starvation, sickness and injury, they would remain strong. Even if it meant losing someone close to you.

"No," The teen answered, "I never grieved for him."

His response made the elder look up in surprise.

"He taught me that I would need to be strong for this colony. That I was meant to be the leader should his time come. Whether if he passed on naturally...or from other causes. If I am to be leader, then there is no time for me to shed tears."

The elder bowed his head slowly in respect to his decision and words, before looking back up at him, "Then...there is some good news...sire."

Gideon turned his head slowly, locking his gaze with the elder's.

"You...are indeed our new leader. It was your father's last wish before he died. That all his power and title...would belong to you."

Gideon turned to look at the sunset.

He was the leader now. This is exactly what his father had prepared him for.

"He also asked that," The elder continued, "That should you ever...find your brother again..."

"Try and convince him to join us." Gideon quickly answered him, "Yes, I know. It's been years since we've been separated, but I think I can convince him otherwise." With a small smile, he turned to the older Vampyrum, "Gather everyone into the main chamber. I'll be there to let them know myself of their new leadership."

"Yes, sire." The elder nodded and flew back inside the pyramid.

"I swear, father," Gideon said to himself quietly, "Our colony will not suffer any further. We will take the pyramid in due time."

Opening his claw, a small spiral of black smoke wafted from his open palm.

"After all...being Vampyrum...we have a natural connection with Zotz. I will find my brother. And with the two of us together...our colony will be unstoppable."

Ever since his birth, Gideon never knew his mother. He never seen what she looked like. He never even got to see what his brother looked like. As a newborn, he was raised only by his father, who struggled to try and provide him with the right food to help him stay healthy and grow. The first few years were rough, with Gideon often asking where his mother was and if she was ever coming back.

It was always the same answer he was given: I don't know. Maybe never.

As heartless as the answer sounded, Gideon's father truly cared for him. Growing up, he was taught about his Vampyrum heritage, as much as he was half-Greenwing, and learned much more about their god, Cama Zotz.

When he reached his teens, Gideon took his teachings further and trained to become a warrior among his father's guard. The losses and victories he faced helped to harden and strengthen his physical and mental being, becoming more of an adult rather than a teenager.

It wasn't until his father's untimely death that he was truly given the role and title as the leader of the colony.

With a large goal in mind, Gideon is prepared to help his colony build the strength and numbers they needed to assault the royal pyramid and make it their own home.

But at the same time...he promised his father that he would find his long lost brother...and bring him back to his true home.

Finally, another bio sheet finished! I got his colors and lines done at about 3 in the morning, so I finished it off today with the color references.

Now, Gideon here, being Bartho's brother, is similar to him in some ways. While he appears to look like a Greenwing, he has fully embraced his Vampyrum side and made himself stronger.

His personaliy is the complete opposite of Bartho's. Not only is he mature for a teenager, he's also quite stern and harsh should someone question his role as leader or refuse to acknowledge it.

The next headshot drawing and bio sheet will be their father. Next after it will be Gideon's and Bartho's mother.
