I play bass! I really like this. The blotches remind me of the full, bouncy isolated notes like in a walking bass line in a jazz song. And his pose is great too. His pose actually reminds me of the bassist from The Living End (he plays a standup), and he spins it sometimes on the peg, it looks like he is getting so funky that he's giving that bass a spin.
!!! Great

Awsome. I'm glad you like it. And bassists are the coolest in my opinion.

Sorry, no London this weekend. There's the slightest of chances I'll go Sunday night, but it's quite unlikely. Thank Vergil for that. I'm giving him the finger right now. (He's in hell, by the way...)

So the tables have turned on poor Vergil, eh?
Haha...then my plan is falling into place so perfectly...

Poor Vergil? Hah! Just because he's in hell doesn't mean he's got a bad deal. He DID get to give Dante a tour of hell and purgatory after all... Dante damnit!

Uhh...yes...*pretending to know what you're talking about*...
Either way, I care not whee Vergil is! The tables have turned on him, because your fondness of him grows weaker and weaker as midterms loom!
Mwahahaha!

Have you seen the movie Seven? Dante is discussed in that film, and that's how I was introduced to him. He wrote an epic called "The Divine Comedy" in which he travels through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. Vergil is his guide through Hell and Purgatory, but he can't go into heaven because he's a heathen pagan. It's one of my favourite pieces of literature ever.
But you're right, my love of Vergil IS waning. Too bad I'm stuck with him for another couple months at least.

I am glad.. You should really explore that style. I think it is very intersting and (dare i say) that i think it could be marketable.

Haha...that's what my parents said. It's funny, the best compliment they think they can give me is "You know, you could probably sell that.."

You know, Crystal, the more I look at this painting the more I like it. I love the funky jazz man. He's a silhouette, but not quite. The white cuffs and red tie are such a great touch. Anyways, thanks for the painting; it has made me very happy.

Thanks so much. The bass is always my favourite, whether it's a bass guitar or cello or whatever. Bass is just so necessary I think.

yeah. but then again, all instruments are necassary. think about it. lets use jazz, for example. listen to a song with a drum, bass, and guitar line playing at once. and then imagine what it'd sound like without the drum. just bass and guitar. it'd sound like a different song. then think of what that song would sound like with just bass and drum. lol i dont know why im leaving such long comments today. i just keep babbling. sorry

No need to apologize. I see what you're saying... I guess i just miss bass the most if it's not there. Drums are very important too... Bass and drums are kind of like the foundation i guess.

This is either a terrible photo or terrible scan. Don't know which. But I like this piece - especially the layout colours and the rather odd funkyness that is going on that could be music - who knows what you intended.
It has a rather funky feel and like it's simplicity.

Thanks for your comment. I think the funkiness is the bassist's jive.
Why do you think the photo is terrible?

Because the colour is inconsistant and blotchy - and some of the sharpness of your shapes it totally lost. It may not be the photo/scan so much as the fact that you have it saved as a jpeg with a lot of colour/quality loss. What program are you using to save the picture/file formats?
Most (good) image editors have some optimization options etc. that will explain quality loss vs file size, you you can generally find a very happy medium for it. PNG's are small for minimal colours too - and as you have predominant colours here it might be a good idea to save as a png file with reduced colour spectrum.
It would enhance your skill in the painting - because the loss of colour/quality sort of ruins the ability to see your own work on it.
