Description UPDATE 9/10/17: I have purchased this fan from the Eastern Market Antique Shop. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T8IlN…

This is one of my favorite vintage box fans; it's the Sears box fan with the penthouse control made by Lasko. I used to own the same Lasko/Sears box fan from the late-80's before my mom gave it away to the Salvation Army. The one I used to have had brown bladeset instead of white or peach color. I also used to have the roll around stand for my box fan as well. This good ol' vintage American-made Lasko box fans including Lakewood---which is now defunct---are much better quality products unlike today's products that are considered junk of the 21st century. This was at the antique shop at the Eastern Market.

It was bought used and wasn't maintained at all by the previous owner.

Reminds me of our old Kenmore window fan with metal blades from the early 70's. That thing was built to last decades and it did.

Us kids were a little afraid of it because my mom said it was powerful enough to chop off our fingers!

They definitely don't make them to last now. The last few fans we bought from Walmart lasted barely two years.

True, my mom thinks vintage ones are junk and they don't work which is untrue. There was something wrong with the thermostat knob on my old one before my mom got rid of it even though the fan still works fine. Nowadays however, I do see some modern China-made box fans get trashed outside the curb--which I don't care about...
