I saw a comic where Bendy, back in the Middle Ages, suffered during the Plague. So many people he loved and wanted to help were dead or dying. A priest thought that he was surviving because God blessed him and was sparing him for a higher loftier purpose. Bendy survived because he was a demon and wasn't prone to human diseases.
In my fan-fics, if a demon develpps & cultivates higher positive qualities (love, charity, empathy...) (s)he ceases to be a demon and is now immune to weaknesses of & restrictions on demons.
