Description Comic #164:Β When you’re scared of bugs the thought of making them into food is pretty repulsive! Even though crustaceans hardly look different from them at all in their live state, shrimp is by far my favorite seafood?? The cognitive dissonance is real. I do think mass farming of crickets for food is a very positive thing, just that most people will have real trouble getting over the image! Would you eat a whole bug? HAVE YOU? Or would you need it to be processed to even consider it?

Crickets are actually super good! Once you get over the look of them it becomes super easy. Plus it's obvious one day eating bugs will become as popular as sushi

National Public Radio. Browse for your local station. Save for politics, some of their studies are really dumbfounding.
(I asked because the day before npr did a article no joke exactly like this)

But bug farming, though I’m too scared to try seems like it could be the new vegan / just a normal for dedicated people.

I've always wanted to try crickets or scorpions, but I'd have to find a way to try them or something without buy like entire bags or meals. That's my only thing. I don't want to buy a ton f a food I've never tried and then be stuck with all this left over food I won't eat or that someone else won't eat.

No bugs, no shrimp or lobster for me.

Pretty much the only seafood (or from a lake or river) that I'll touch is tuna. Maybe salmon.

Getting Down Under Dan flashbacks from that first panel.

And honestly, if there were bugs big enough that you could crack them open and eat them like a lobster, I'd go for that. Like those giant pillbugs in The Emperor's New Groove. It's the "little legs, crunchy exoskeleton and all" business that mainly grosses me out.

Like many somewhat 'out there' foods, general adoption will take a few generations and then people will have a hard time with the idea that people didn't eat them.

Consider:Β  The time when lobster was something only a fisherman too poor to eat fish would have is still within living memory.

God, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Only bug ive ever eaten was a scorpion inside a lollipop. The sucker was delicious up until the scorpion, that thing tasted like sand.Β
My way is I'll eat it to give it a try but if I dont like it afterwords its a done deal. I wont eat it again.

I've eaten whole bugs, but they had been freeze-dried, and that makes them a bit stinky. They didn't taste very good. Still, I'd be willing to give them another chance.

I'd eat snails. Crickets and grubs I might have a bit of a harder time adjusting to, but cooked properly, I might. (I'm also more likely to succumb when it comes to being threatened, the only reason I like snails in the first place was because I was threatened with failing my science class in high school if I didn't try them. I ended up becoming addicted and getting sick because I ate too many.)
