For example: instead of saying "I will draw every day this year" you could say "I will get better at drawing this year". Otherwise, you might beat yourself up over the fact that you failed within the first month. I learned this the hard way.

Like Shelton Benjamin said, New Years Resolutions are a load of crap and a waste of time, the entire thing should be brought to an end.

And all i needed to was keto and IF. Happy as a silly goat, never needing sugar nor soda or starchy carbs ^^
...and thus also weight came down from 90kg to 70kg

You should wear books as hats. Big books that have pages that flow like hair.

Better to be happy anyways, that's how I look at life.

For me, finding something that showed results consistently helps.
In my case, this is dropping all the way down to 1000 calories a day (don't worry, I'm 80 pounds over and my doctor has approved). I lose a tiny bit almost everyday. For my mental construction (various mental health issues) seeing that small drop all the time is immensely helpful in continuing. I also fit in junk if I want it. Like a small bowl of ice cream, usually sugar free if possible. Anything to keep some sanity.
I've tried 1300-1500 and I lose so slow compared that it often made me feel like what I did didn't matter
Finding what works is by far the most important thing I've found to keep me on track. Finding that exercise that gets you motivated, those foods you actually enjoy etc.
I currently do that diet, with a cheat day every two weeks or so, sometimes more often and a greasing the gears form of exercise, where I do a small amount of reps everyday on a specific muscle group 4 times a day.
Try everything to see what both works and what you can actually stick with. No matter what kinda resolution it is. If your resolution is drawing more, maybe the first continuous step is merely to just plug in the tablet/turn on the drawing program everyday at a certain time. Maybe not even drawing, but just getting in the habit of doing things for it, then just drawing a line.
Whatever you can do to find that level that motivates you to keep going and that is actually doable, go for it. Don't think about others, think about what you can do, what is a accomplishment for you, no matter how small that step maybe, if you keep at it, it will grow into more steps and bigger ones.
Building habits is difficult, but breaking it down into little things you know you can accomplish but still are necessarily easy can be a HUGE help.

My excuse is that when I tried to go to gym, the RCMP were there. Maybe it's a sign...

Be ready to make changes along the way, I've never written anything that did not need to be rewritten or changed in parts, however yes it is pretty addicting when you really get into it, it also infests you ever waking and sleeping moment.

Hehe it does indeed especially when you get better at spotting your errors by your self and know how to fix it, that's a great feeling.
Punctuation is a pain in the backside grammar in general is a pain for me, Microsoft Word's grammar checks annoy me to no end however, it is helping me become a better writer so the annoyance is serving a purpose at least.

It also helps to read your work aloud, to get a feel of how it flows. It also helps boost my confidence, even when i trip over words and slur things.

I do my writing at a library so I can't do that but I do read my work as often as I can, and yes it helps quite a bit.

I reread until I hate it.
And I also have other people read it, someone who doesn't know the stories or whats happening and can let me know if I left any gaps in plot or made it difficult to extrapolate between which characters are talking.

I try to avoid falling in that pit, use to to do that i stopped as it was really hurting my final story.
Getting others to read it can be a great idea, if you can trust them not to steal the ideas that is, that can be a real annoying, still if you can trust them its a great tool as a writer.

I used to do it for art and everything. But it usually takes about a year for me to start noticing fetal mistakes.
I only have close family members read it, so I doubt they'd try and take my ideas.

Mistakes exist to help you get better, that's it really.
That's smart right there.

I'm heavily considering copyrighting my writing before uploading it here, just in case.

I'm not sure,. I was going to check but the website to do so is under maintenance. I guess it would be easier than fighting somebody that copied your none copyrighted idea.

Good for you! Even if it is complete crap, you still did it, you still wrote your story and that's what you set out to do. If you do get writers block along the way, don't sweat it. Take a break for a while and do something else. Often when i was writing my own story I'd try hard to think of what to do next. But when I distracted myself, I got so many new ideas and directions to go, often at night when I was doing other things or trying to sleep, so keep a notebook or word doc handy so you can write down extra ideas if you do get writers block!
Good luck!

I'm waiting until after the new year resolution craze dies down to start training again for my 5K. I'm super behind after getting sick one month into training last year and then we moved and I'm out of shape again.... It is hard to get yourself to think differently but brains are easily tricked I've learned. (Also when I run i want to have something fun to watch so I'm not as distracted by miles/speed)

This is why me and mom don't set resolutions. Some resolutions can be unrealistic and some... well it's a lot harder sometimes to take that first step.
If I had made a new years resolution... it would have been to get more art done XD

Yeah. I go to the gym and every New Year it gets packed with new people but by end of February-March it dies back down, it's rather sad.
I joined the gym cause I wanted to get in shape and lose weight. I started late November 2017, instead of New Years cause I thought, "I want to do this, why wait?"
My ex joined the gym the same time, but only cause I had been nagging her to join a gym to help lose weight (as she had a bad weight issue and it really effected her lifestyle which was horrible to see).
Cause she joined cause I forced her, she stopped about 4 months into it, while I am now on my 13th month of it and loving it. But her laziness is sadly what made me end the relationship.
It is sad when people want to help themselves with a New Year Resolution, but they are only fooling themselves if they need a reason to start doing it like a New Year, it doesn't work like that, you have to really want to do it and in some aspects you need to enjoy it as well to keep you doing it. If someone wants to lose weight or actually do something, they don't need a New Year to achieve it.
