I agree, the first thing I thought of when I saw this was Mass Effect.
Not sure about the Turian thing though. It definitely has some elements of that race, but I also see krogan, some batarian, and even a bit of salarian mixed in with that. If you mixed those four species together in game, you would get the most badass thing in the galaxy.
