Actually this is pseudonym. Her real name is Anna and she changed surnames due to marriages and divorce.
Anja has very characteristic timbre.

She is a leader of a gothic rock band Closterkeller (to be sincere, they took the name from the - rather cheap, if I remember properly one of the interviews - wine). Their first album appeared in 1990. The band changed members relatively often, but Anja always was its core. She wrote lyrics. The best times of the band, in my opinion, were when Paweł Pieczyński played on guitars and Krzysztof Najman played on bass guitar. They both were writing the music for the Closterkeller and composed the best of their songs. The Closterkeller songs were often about love, but there were also other themes like politics, violence, religion, or being lost in life. My favourite albums are Scarlet and Cyan, then Graphite (all theirs album were named after colors). They are still playing, however I would like to pretend that they stopped, unfortunately.

This was my favourite band, when I was at high school. I was even thinking about dying my hair black, but I went to concert and saw girls made to look as Anja copies and I thought that it is not my way. When I had these teenage downs, I used to say that only their music keeps me alive. I think that I was exaggerating a bit, but definitely, their music helped me to cope with my problems. So I owe to them much.

I still have an autograph and remember the concert. It was Anja'a solo concert, after it fans surrounded her. She was tired, in the airless, hot club, her make up actually started to smudge. But she stayed and signed all they were giving to her. She signed also my piece of paper. When I was taking it from her hands I said "thank you" - what was striking, at that time I was the only person who thanked, the rest of the people seemed to take it for granted. Maybe because of that she raised her head, looked at me and smiled. I remember that smile. So, thank you one more time. You made my life better.
