Endgame was a slightly better than doomsday project
But seriously they should have rebooted after satam was canned

The "Director's Cut" of the "Endgame" arc was better then the original issue #50. I'm glad Archie had the foresight to include that full version in "Sonic Archives:Vol.13."
It kinda was, as it went a different direction then that show.

I'm afraid I can't at the moment, as I've been quite busy with my job IRL, and my computer is on the fritz (on a WiiU now) so I have no way to draw or scan pictures for it. Sorry.

I don't mean to be rude about somebody I don't know well, but Nintendude judging by his remarks, and DA gallery is incredibly biased with his opinions on the Sonic series, and doesn't have all the facts like he thinks.
For one thing Mike Pellerito hasn't been editor for the Sonic comics for nearly 10 years. It's also ironic he's accusing Ian Flynn of trying to "turn the comics into the games," (the comics always adapted stories from the games, the first being "Sonic Spinball") especially, considering people always accuse Ian of favoring SatA.M. characters like Sally, and such.
I'm actually glad Ian adapted more game continuity/characters in the comic, (such as the Battle Bird Armada from the obscure yet good "Tails Adventure" GG game. I also like how he gave Bean, the Babylon Rogues, and Preditor Hawk some backstory with them) that doesn't hurt the SatA.M. or original elements of the series, it just adds more to it.
Not to mention, Ian references things to SatA.M. too, so Ian's not as one-sided as he claims.
Ian can't win, whenever he references, or uses the game characters the SatA.M. cartoon, the game fans bash him, and accuse him of being biased. Then whenever he uses the SatA.M. characters instead for an issue, then he gets accused of favoring them. Which is he, guys?
It's also, ironic to assume Ken Penders cared more about SatA.M. (Especially after how he treated Ben Hurst, and destroyed his chances of getting a SatA.M. revival going... Not to mention if Ken had his way, Sally would be gone 2 decades ago.) Ian actually is a fan of that show, Ken never really watched it, and Ken was the one trying to make the comics different from SatA.M. or the Sonic games. (And acted as if that was a good thing.)
I don't care how much more "experience" Ken had, while I enjoyed many of Ken's stories, (so I'm honestly no "Ken-hater," I just don't like how he behaves sometimes) in the end he doesn't really know how to write for a comic based on a video game/cartoon, and just makes it however he wants, or like "Star Trek."
Ian understands the source material better, and like it, or not, the comic needs to be more then just "Sonic & his friends sneaking into Robotnik's city," (If it was exactly like SatA.M. that's all nearly every story would be) or "Sonic smooching Sally/Amy/ect."
And if you're going to demonize Ian for making the comics different from that TV show, then you should Ken Penders, Karl Bollers, and every other writer on the comic too.
I always liked having both SatA.M. & game characters & settings in the comic, so I guess I just don't understand why most Sonic fans can only enjoy one, or the other.

Thanks. lol sorry for going on a tangent about the Sonic fanbase.
I can actually relate to Ian, because I get accused of the same things he does. Because I like SatA.M. people assume I hate the games. Because I like the games, people assume I hate SatA.M. I don't know why this fanbase assumes you can only enjoy one version of Sonic.

you know this makes think about how I would love to see a Mario cartoon in the style of the old satam cartoon or a Mario comic in the style of pre reboot Archie Sonic. wouldn't have been cool if the valiant Mario series not only lasted as long as Archie Sonic but also went in a similar direction of going from the comedic approach and into a more serious action oriented series.

Beau-Skunk In reply to JorDanGo [2017-03-31 03:13:37 +0000 UTC]
I can't really see Mario going that route, but it'd be interesting if it did become a bit more serious while still keeping the more quirky Nintendo-ish elements in tact.
Plus, even though Sonic got more darker & serious, it still retained it's sense of humor, and lighter moments. Even SatA.M. wasn't always serious.
Some consider the 1993 SMB live action movie kinda like the Mario equivalent of "SatA.M." Despite being notoriously campy, it was a li'l darker, and a bit more "Bladerunner"-esc then most Mario canons.

well I meant like satam in that fashion of being more serious while still having some humor elements. and I know about the comparisons between satam and the mario movie but I was thinking more along the lines of being like satam being darker and more serious but still having the same genre, satam and and the genesis games despite their differences were still sci-fi fantasies, and having items from the games being re-imagined to fit the universe like with the rings (although come to think of it the mario movie still did that), and I imagine this more serious mario would still have the mushroom people and bowser as a dragon/turtle/thing. I'm thinking of doing a mario comic based on this concept called "Super Mario Satam" but I'm already working on a sonic comic that shares elements of satam. Β

Good luck with the comic.
Yeah, even the classic Sonic games had some darker moments, and sci-fi elements.
Mario's more "fantasy" then sci-fi, but SMG had some sci-fi, and darker moments, but still keeps the cheerful atmosphere the Mario series is known for. A "SatA.M." Mario would still have to have some humor, and brightness to balance the dark too.

Y'know, I actually had a very similar story idea to that. Hehe
I wish they did have a comic, but I doubt it'll ever happen... I hear Nintendo actually did turn down Archie's offers to do a 4-part mini-series based on Mario, Metroid, and Kirby in short-comic stories... (You can even see images/character concept sketches that Tracy Yardley drew online.) Ironically, that was around the same time they pitched a Megaman series to Capcom, but Capcom was apparently pleased, and let them do a "Megaman" comic. (Which is doing so well, they're going to do a second Megaman comic based on the "Megaman X" canon, I hear.)Β
Apparently, Nintendo is notorious for turning down offers like that to do a new comic, movie, or TV series based on their franchises, (yet they'll allow/license Campbell's to make soup with noodle shapes based on Mario...)Β
I understand them being a li'l paranoid, sense the 1993 "Super Mario Bros." movie was a bit odd, and didn't do well in the box office, (I still kinda liked it though personally) but sense nowadays people who grew up with Nintendo, and are more familiar with them are in the animation/comic buisiness now would be a good time for them to let Archie or IDW make a Mario comic, or something. (The reason I chose those 2 companies, is because those are the only 2 comic companies that allow their licensed series to last a long time.)Β
It's also a shame 'cause writer Ian Flynn (who writes for both Archie's Sonic & Megaman comics) is not only a Sonic & Megaman fan, (hence why he knows so much about said franchises) but also a fan of Mario & Nintendo's games, as well. He expressed interest in doing a comic based on one of their franchises. ("Star Fox" being one of his favorite Nintendo games to.)
I hate to admit it, but I would love to see what a more modern "Captain N: The Game Master" (an old Nintendo TV show & comic series) would be like. (It'd probobly more true to the source material to some games.)

Perhaps, though the DKC series isn't quite as popular nowadays as the other 3 series. (Though, still quite popular regardless.) Plus, sense it's kinda a spin-off of the Mario series, it'd look kinda like favoritism, that they have 2 Nintendo series, with 1 Capcom, and 1 Sega.Β
DK & Diddy could have a cameo though, or something.

Except, King Koopa sinks in molten lava and becomes the fiery Bowser we know today. Just as long as Peach isn't a Women Are Wiser freedom fighter leader who charges Mario for alledged treason and Mario ends up accused of murder. And no Prince Haru expy of Geoffry St. John.

Nintendo will more than likely keep Bowser around for Nintendo eternity.

I still remember all of those times when I beat Robotnik and managed to hit his little airship at the end of Sonic 1 and it lost altitude in just one hit. Oh and the two Death Egg machines that blew up in Sonic 2 and S&K, I remember those as well. May Robotnik endure forever more.
