CLAIRE X LEON

Not Canon, huh? If you don't like it?

Three days have passed sense the explosion of Raccoon City.
Leon,Claire and Sherry did what they could to find food and shelter for those many cold September nights but being as stubborn as both Leon and Claire were, they refused to give up on survival.

After escaping the tunnel they slept under the stars on the cold grounds. The third night got down below 40 degrees. Claire gave Sherry her vest already and Leon gave her his under white Shirt for her to lay on to subside the coldness of the ground. Claire sat crossing her legs, while she held the child giving her body heat.

It seemed to help because Sherry slept fine. Leon had just finished building a small fire with the lighter he found in the RPD.

He sat next to Claire placing his hands together and rubbed them while blowing his breath into them for heat.

Claire watched him with a blank stare the light of the fire lit the side of her face. He noticed this new look he had not seen on her before.

" Claire?..." She snapped out of the stare and said gently "Hmm?"

"Nothing you looked upset." He replied and she looked to the pitiful fire " I'm worried we wont make it, What if no one finds us before we starve?"

She said blankly, Obviously hiding her emotions with a numb look. A sympathetic look became on Leon's face as he started to notice how scratched up she was. And those rose red cheeks stood out in comparison to her lips.

Her pale lips...He couldn't stand the sight of a women looking so cold. He then realized how blind he had been, Claire did such a good job being independent that he didn't realize she was too stubborn to ask or show when she needed help. So how could he not see how deadly cold she looked...

"Look...That's why! I never really seemed to look. I thought too much on Ada to realize I should be thinking of people I can save now!"

He thought to himself and rubbed his shoulders fast, He said softly to her.

" Listen Claire, I know we barely know each other but I am absolutely freezing..."

Her eyes turned to him and she raised a brow. Looking at him like he was a typical guy.

" No,no,no! You got it all wrong! I would never try to pull that on you... Not that there is anything wrong with you cause your very pretty its just!"

He tried to explain. He quickly stopped himself and took a deep breath and while rubbing his neck he continued.

" Its body heat. Sherry is sleeping fine because of body heat. And you look cold."

She smiled lightly and responded calmly. " Leon I wouldn't be offended if we huddled for warmth."

He was shocked how mature she was about the matter and he wrapped his arms around her. The crackling sound of the fire was peaceful and Claire felt Leon rest his head on her head. He noticed her hair smelt really good, unusual considering how dirty they all were.

Claire felt warmer with in a matter of 20 minutes. She was about to thank him before she heard snoring.

She busted out in a laugh and he woke up.

" It's good to hear you laugh...I had yet to hear it till now."

He said in a tired tone while sitting up and stretching with a yawn.

" You...You should go back to sleep." She said with a smile.

"Can't...Who would protect you girls?!" He responded.

Claire felt her stomach fall, She noticed how his eyes glisten in the fire lite, And he said it with all seriousness. Such a legit guy. Her eyes softly stared at his for a silent 30 seconds.

He saw the look she gave him and knew what the look meant.

" Claire, I'm not right for you...."

She looked down at the fire that was now subsiding and laughed.

" Who said you where?... We have a silent second looking at one another and suddenly we're right for each other?...I'm not that kind of girl."

She said with an amused tone. He looked all too serious and replied.

" That's good then."

Morning came and the suns raise creeped up over the sleeping three. Claire woke to Sherry tapping her shoulder,she opened her eyes to see them both ready to move out.

" Did we fall asleep?" She asked while trying to block the bright sun with her hand.
" Yeah, I don't even remember going to sleep." He responded. " Lets get moving." He added.

They had passed two old shacks with in a five mile distance and still nothing of use.

Leon walked holding tired little Sherry in his arms and it was silent again.
"Claire are you going to adopt me?" Sherry asked. " I will if the government will let me Sherry." She answered.

Hours had passed with nothing but walking and searching. Leon couldn't help but think about the night before. Maybe he was wrong about that look. Maybe he looked into it too much and made her feel foolish. Still she was really beautiful. And he noticed a bunch of things he really was attracted to in her.

" Are you hungry Claire?" She nodded with a miserable look on her face.

" Lets camp." He replied.

It was already getting dark again and it was time to find some kind of shelter. They walked along this dirt road and they knew they were close to the Arkley mountains when they saw all the trees ahead.

Another night they rest on the cold ground. This night was lucky it was only 60 degrees. Leon still noticed Claire shivering in her sleep so he huddled against her back and smelled her hair. It calmed him and he became full of questions.

He shook her lightly and she turned to look at him.

"Hmm?" She said in a tired voice.

" What shampoo do you use?"...She sat up

"Treseme...Why?" She answered.

"Its nice." He added.

" Thank you but why did you wa.." Suddenly a snake slithered passed and she jumped.

"WHOA!" Leon dashed after it in the woods and he yelled back at her.

" HELP ME CATCH IT!" She stood up and ran too. She caught up and saw nothing but Leon searching on the ground.

Claire felt something on her leg and looked down to find the 5 foot reptile crawling up her thigh. She yelped and Leon walked up calmly and took it off of her.

He smirked at her with his hair in his eyes a little. " Food!" He said.

That night he made another fire and fed Sherry. She went back to bed while they stayed up chatting about life. The more she talked about her personal life the more he felt drawn to her. Wanting to know more.

While walking closer to the mountains the next day, They had already found an old brown beat up tent with an old blanket. They packed it up and took it along.

Leon walked behind watching over the two girls chatting and giggling. They seemed happier and energized now that they ate. He walked slower thinking to himself.

"What if... My feelings for Claire are more than just friendship feelings. No! what about Ada?..."

He saw Claire's beautiful smile at Sherry.

"But I could of just been fooled by a crush that felt deeper than it really was. I know Claire better now and she is such a interesting girl."

"Leon?..." Claire slowed her walking to walk beside him.
" Yeah?" He replied. " It was really brilliant of you to capture the snake..So uh, Thanks."

She said with a smile. " And...I have something really important I want to tell you tonight. And only you." She added looking him deep in his eyes.

He felt his stomach lifted. " Just curious, What is this about?"

..." Well, I'm not comfortable saying it now. Just let me say it on my own ok?" She replied.

He nodded in return. It was obvious how they both felt now.

A cloudy sky rolled in and they set camp in the woods. Leon and Claire lay with Sherry between them. Laying on their sides facing each other waiting for sherry to be completely asleep.

Finally she slumbered and Claire motioned for Leon to meet her out side of the tent. Leon meet young Redfield by a tree. She leaned her back against the tree looking at him with a serious face.

" Whats wrong?" He asked. She began to explain.

" I needed to tell you this sense we saw the mountain... There is a base 2 miles from here and tomorrow I think we should go there. "

" Are you kidding me? This is wonderful!" He interrupted.

" No, Listen.. When we get there I need to hurry to my brother...This will be the last night I see you." She added.

" No!" He shouted as lightning struck in the distance and rain began to pour.

" You guys need to take this! You have no one left to protect but sherry I have my brother!" She shouted back as her hair soaked in the cold rain.

He walked up to her and grabbed her wrist tight. " T..Tell me you can walk away from this?!" He said aggressively and Continued. " What about?...About what you said to Sherry?!"

She showed no emotion but strong hurtful feelings struck her heart like knifes. She was both hurt and flattered he seemed to care more than she knew.

" LEON! MY BROTHER IS OUT THERE!" She screamed coldly and turned to stomp off. But suddenly Leon turned her around before she could leave.

"Kiss me?..." He said in a soft tone and dropped to his knees " ...Show me some kind of affection..I know its there." His voice weakened. "You pretend you feel nothing but I know its a lie"

Claire was shocked and butterflies fluttered in her stomach like crazy...She had no idea until now. Claire had feelings too but she hid it so well.

She fell to her knee's as well and wrapped her arms around his neck, wanting to kiss him. He pulled her closer by her bottom. Urging for a kiss... She leaned in slowly, The rain fell hard and lightning struck behind the two. And as there lips barely began to touch he pulled back.

" Don't...You don't have to, this is enough for me." He said softly and she embraced him.

The next day they traveled to the base. There, Claire turned to give a far well but was interrupted by Leon.

"Leave us alone." Claire couldn't believe Leon's words. Leon continued, "You're looking for your brother, right?

Just go!" Claire knew that Leon and Sherry needed immediate medical attention, but she could not waste anymore time. "I... "I'll be back. I promise!" She said as she disappeared into the wilderness alone...

Leon watched with mixed emotions and squeezed his fists shut tightly. And Thought to himself. " Its all lost now..."

She mumbled to herself. " Wha,What did I just lose?!What Could Of Been?...Why did I?" Tears fell and she felt Leon's anger as she walked alone knowing his eyes watched her.

Soon she was no longer in sight. The grudge she gave Leon ruined the chances of this romance blooming any further...
