Wonderful design and a great way of showing it off too, it might be a 'quick photoshop treatment' but its very effective

But one of these days I should take the time to do it right...

This is really cool! I love Viking designs and Celtic knot-art, but I can't make lines straight to save my life...Very impressive!

It's no more complex than your paper-cutting...

glad you like it.

Beautiful knot, I like the woody feel and earthy brown color. If you don't mind my pointing out a spot which throws the under, over, under, over out.... the lowest loop of the left dragon repeats two overs which causes two unders where the top coil of the left dragon meets the center knotpiece. I'm a bit fanatical about such stuff but still love this piece.

yeesh, thats embarrassing. I'm fanatical about the over-unders too. In my defense- this is just a pencil sketch (with a quick photoshop treatment). I haven't gone back to make a finished work out of it yet. I don't mind the pickyness at all.

It can be easy to miss sometimes, I have to double and triple check and even then on a large piece I can't always be 100% sure.

Yeah, I've spent hours just making sure with my larger pieces. I once spent three days working out a half page plait, before I learned the formula to make sure it is one braid.

That would look great centered across the shoulders I love this design!

Glad you like it.

Oooh, same design, or something a little new?

BeauW In reply to AlexandraRena [2007-04-12 23:10:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, the original sketch was never finished, this was just a bit of fun I was having in photoshop.

So- I think it's time I finish the original design.

I think I actually prefer Norse knotwork to Celtic, but I haven't been able to pull off making any of it myself though...lovely work on this!

Thanks.

I love both styles and like to give and take between them (which isn't that hard)

oh that it so beautiful. I love that the lines are wave like wood and not perfect symetry. Th opposing heads are cool too. I think you might be able to improve the bottom do-dad part a bit.

BeauW In reply to Osa-Art-Farm [2007-03-20 00:30:54 +0000 UTC]

I probably should- it's actually just from a pencil sketch and I didn't take much time to update it when I was experimenting in Photoshop.

I wouldn't mind having that drilled onto my collarbone. Very cool and original!

BeauW In reply to ShadowFoxxx [2007-02-21 02:47:31 +0000 UTC]

Actually, it was originally designed as a tattoo.
It was supposed to wrap around an upper arm, with the two heads biting a spiral ball between them.

ShadowFoxxx In reply to BeauW [2007-02-22 05:45:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh I see. It looks like something that would be on the collarbone or on the shoulder blades. You know, having the dragons heads touch either side of your shoulers and have the ball between them, then have the tail there drop down in the center. Nicely done.

The wood texture really helps accentuate the knotwork. I like how you made it kind of rough, especially in the dog/dragon heads. The central parts could be a bit more symmetrical, but it looks good.
