There's always Magic: Duels if you have a computer. It's free to play on Steam, but if that's not enough Hearthstone is reputably pretty good too. There's also MTG: Online's shareware version called Cockatrice, but the only problem is that it uses MTGO's ugly interface.
Usually a lot of people on eBay are willing to give away loads of physical common cards for really cheap prices, and gaming shops tend to offer cheap cards for low prices. I only spent about two hundred over the years for about 5000 cards- which is more than I'll ever need.

If making MTG cards, would it be wrong to give Rainbow Dash the new dash mechanic (alternate summon cost, give the creature haste and bounces back to your hand during the end step)? Because it suits her sooooooo much.

My thoughts for the Mane Six:
Twilight Sparkle - WU because she has the wisdom of blue and the leadership of white;
Fluttershy - GW because she has the nature love of green and the kindness of white;
Rainbow Dash - RW because she has the speed of red and the loyalty of white;
Rarity - WU because she has the craftiness of blue and the generosity of white (she could be UR aswell, since she's keen on crystal ores and has a moody personality like red);
Applejack - Mono-green for being physically strong and very related to earth (she could be RG tho, since being honest she would really show her feelings, like red, instead of hiding them, like blue);
Pinkie Pie - Mono-red for being extremely emotional-driven and a little bit chaotic, tending to break the law of Physics and Logic.

I'd agree on most of these. Rainbow Dash would mostly lean towards heavy red. Loyalty to others isn't necessarily a white trait; or even much of a trait for that matter. Maybe a splash at most.
Rarity doesn't exactly have outstanding intellect; I'd say she's BW more than anything. She has been able to use her charisma to slip out of several situations, but I don't really think she compulsively studies the art of verbal manipulation to call it blue. She's simultaneously one that indulges in morality, order, and self-sacrifice, but at the same time struggles with pursuing her own interests over the wants of others. Plus she's notably rich and classy like the Orzhov, so she has that going for her.
Pinkie Pie's heavily driven by emotion, so she easily takes monored. Sometimes I wonder if she can splash black because Pinkamena among several other things, but red's definitely her dominant colour.
