The original with Max Schreck? I think I know what you mean. It's creepy and sinister in a special way, but I like the aesthetics somehow (also of Bela Lugosi movies). Maybe the ambivalence makes it so fascinating.

The old subtle horror movies are cool, but I can't stand most of the new ones with all that sadistic splatter and gore stuff.
I could imagine Clint Eastwood would be a great vampire too... maybe.
