If there is one thing that intrigues me, it's tribal drawings. It can be tattoos, traditional art or digital art, it doesn't matter. Undoubtedly there are massive stories to tell with a collection of drawings, tales of fighting, sorrow and adventure, among several other key adventures.
So, my thoughts aside, let's get to the critique shall we?
Vision: First of all, how well does this piece present a point of view, its themes and ideas? Well, the main idea I seem to be getting from this is a wolf stalking prey for its dinner... tail curled, nose down, ready to run into a sprint. This suggests to me that the wolf is a born hunter... only stopping to sleep.
I'm not so sure about what other ideas you're trying to present, but I will say this, for the idea that I seem to be picking up, you've done a fine job. The presentation, considering how minimal it looks, is very striking and detailed. For that, I believe four stars out of five is perfectly suitable.
Originality: A quick search on "Tribal Wolf" turned up over 11,000 pieces, with several in different positions such as climbing, sleeping, prowling and so much more. One guy in particular seems to have drawing wolves down to a science.
But this is not about him, this is about you.
While I cannot really call this fresh in style, the execution and approach, where there is more colour and less white space (or lines), is definitely unique and deserves some merit. I've also mentioned that the design (under presentation) is very surprising and seems to suggest the evil residing within this creature. Enjoying the intricate designs as well, I'm happy to give four-and-a-half stars here.
Technique: Several people I believe can draw the outline of a wolf as you have and completely colour it in, but it takes someone really skilled to add in some truly intricate and mesmerising designs. I believe you fit the mould, here.
However, the back legs kind of give me the impression that the wolf is bent in at a strange angle (any explanation, please?) and the tail could've been a little more detailed. It feels to me like you've drawn a big circle there, even though I know the tail is supposed to be curled in.
So, all that stated, four stars out of five. Seriously enjoy the technique, but I had to nitpick on those things that I felt were strange.
Impact: The presentation of this piece is very striking, without question, and the artwork will tend to evoke strong emotions of being a predator, resonating with the hunter that dwells within us. So, with nothing else to add, four stars. I can't really say it blew my mind, but I can still sense it will have a strong impact on other people.
I believe all up that averages four stars - a solid piece of work that arguably has a few flaws, but they are flaws that are minor at best. Well done, and would certainly like to see more work like this. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>
