*sighs* It won't only be Americans who'll suffer I assume. I'm British myself. Good work, simple yet insightful.

Because I am British alot of people sometimes assume my opinion on their president doesn't matter as it doesn't concern me. But considering the impact the USA has on the world, it kind of IS our concern.

Interesting thing to note how many people attempted to be sophisticated and intellectual by debating with each other about which canditate was the bigger moron. I'm Australian, so I'm in much the same boat as you Americans.

Funnily enough though, I don't seem to feel the need to be a pathetic child and complain about something I really don't know enough about, drag religion and morality into it, and add unnecessary length to this page in hopes of people seeing me as intelligent. The people higher up on the page who spent a large amount of time arguing with each other [no names mentioned] seem to feel this need.

This is a truly excellent piece. Very well composed. Sophisticated.

You cannot disagree that bush and Saddam are as bad as each other. Saddam started two wars and killed "one million Kurds." I can agree with Afghanistan because after 9-11 someone had to pay or the American people would have gone crazy and it sets an example to others to not attempt a similar attack. How ever Iraq had no justification. Even if Saddam had β€œWOMDs” he never used them and America without UN sanction invaded Iraq. In short the war was illegal and wrong. The estimates of Iraqi civilians killed because of this embarrassing war top 1 million. And of course you know that the bush family supplied the nerve gas, weapons and black ops training to Osama Bin laden even though they knew full well the potential genocides he'd commit after the Russians were gone from Afghanistan. As well Bush is knowingly holding people in Guantanamo Bay where American justices are ignored. The American government officials are warmongers, I feel bad for the soldiers who have to serve in a campaign of no honour (Iraq) and I’m sad that my country has been dragged through the mud in an attempt to clean up America’s mess. So you see bush isn't so clean after all. Please write back with your opinion, and thank you for reading this even if you don't agree.

Hey, I totally see what you're saying, I've heard it a million times, but it's not completely accurate, there's some stuff missing. The wars that Saddam started weren't political, they were religious: a scouring of the people that didn't follow the religious beliefs of the leader at the time. No different than Hitler's 'ethnic cleansing' during WWII. The thing about going to war was the fact that, yes the attacks during 9/11 were on American soil, but the World Trade Center towers didn't just have Americans in them, there were people from all around the world. Most of the countries involved wanted revenge, it was the US, under lead of President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheyney, Colin Powwel, and the congress (who are all equally at fault for bring us to war), that led the way into Iraq. The United Nations, or as I prefer to call them, the Untied Nothings, had no clue what to do and were not accomplishing anything. Thus the US went into Iraq with a few other countries' support. Then more terrorist attacks occurred in other countries and and like the terrorists planned, the others backed out (out of fear). Civilian Iraqis that have been killed by American soldiers were mostly in the beginning of the war or by accident, but the number one cause of innocent Iraqi civilians dying is from (Iraqi) terrorist killing them (trying to keep them afraid of helping the Americans in the war). As for myself, I'm glad that there are those that are willing to serve and go over to Iraq for our freedom and the freedom of the Iraqi people. Ya, there're some soldiers that don't want to be over there, but there are many more that are signing up for second, third or even fourth tours over there. It may be a sad and rather grotesque and controversial war, but what war isn't.

And no, no man is clean. I know that you may know that, and I know Bush knows that. But I'm sure that Bush feels a major burden of all the loss of life and prays about it often. Needless to say, he's not been the best president ever, but he's certainly not the worst. I know many people will be glad to see him leave office, but right now, I'm scared with of some of the current candidates running, especially Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama. I won't want to be living in the US if either of them are elected, but that's just my opinion.

Feel free to respond, but dA isn't a political message board. Thanks for reading my info and views. If you want to keep sharing opinions, then we could continue this on my main page.

politics is the art of life, so it does belong on DA in some regard, lol

No offence but Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. The terrorists where traced and penalized in Afghanistan, not Iraq. You cannot simply attack a nation because you think they might attack you, Bushes "...write to pre-emptive strike...". Just because some guy looks like he might want to stab you, this is no reason to shoot him first and no judge would agree with you if you used this as a defence. Why does your nation attend the UN if they have no compulsion to abide by the rules and thoughts of the general majority? Illegal or not America was still the aggressor in Iraq, without a sufficient cause, and if it had been a nation such as Iran invading Iraq the UN nations would have protested a lot more. The only reason America got away with the invasion is based off their high role in the economy. But this does not make it right. If the Administration had based their whole reason for Iraq on freedom fighting to liberate Iraq from an oppressive regime then that would have been a true and honourable campaign but I disagree with the "pre-emptive strike" method that was the basis for Iraq.

Asama Bin Ladden had a major part of the terrorist organization in both Afghanistan and Iraq. And ya, maybe all the reasons for going to war weren't right, but it's not to say it's not without some cause; and whether or not the end will justify the means is yet to be seen. And in regards to the UN. Just because something is a major ity doesn't mean it's in the right. That's one of the reasons' the states didn't sign the Kyoto Accord (which Canada is now trying to get out of), and the Canadian government was in such turmoil for so long. Either way, if and when I'm angry/annoyed at the American government, it's not at the President alone, it's at congress, the vice-president, the chief of staffs, the military leaders, (and the president). But not the president alone, it's like trying to be mad at the queen of England, but she's just a figure head, she's not a sole leader.

I'm sorry, you’re right. When I say Bush I'm referring to the Bush administration. The Kyoto Accord is the right thing to do. Especially for America who produces "near 25%" of the worlds pollutants and has such a small population. Canada such stick with the Accord, if they drop it I’ll be greatly disappointed because we also produce far too much pollution.

Wolf-Child In reply to Mac25 [2007-06-06 01:48:52 +0000 UTC]

M-hmm, but the thing that I've seen wrong with the Kyoto Accord is that: us countries that have signed it, now have to cut down on emitions while footing the bill for 'blooming industrial' countries that are now allowed to pollute all they want. (e.g. China) That's why Canada's trying to get out of it while the US didn't even sign. =/

Countries like America, Britain and Canada have already been allowed to develop, it's not like we can just demand that developing countries should not and stay poor.

Wolf-Child In reply to Mac25 [2007-06-08 01:19:09 +0000 UTC]

No, I agree, but all countries need to continue to develop, but now those that are considered "developing" are allowed to do it without restrictions. They can pump out pollutants and toxins without second thought while the other countries, like Canada, the US, and Britain, are forces to spend billions of dollars on finding new ways to make the same old thing without having the same old pollutants...

My opinion on Bush is simply this: if a man is for death penalty and against abortion at the same time AND manages to be christian (doesn't the bible say something about NOT killing?) then I don't trust him. I'm not christian, and since I believe a foster is not a person, I am for abortion. Another thing: doesn't anyone find it...interesting...that both times when he participated in an election, there was a lot of mess, both times there just HAPPENED to be suspections of cheat? But noooo, that was probably juuust a coincidence. Now, I'm not the most well informed person, true, and if there's something I've missed, I'm open to learn about it. Wow - was certainly interesting reading through all the comments posted on this page. I love this deviation - I completely and utterly agree with it. Not being a U.S. citizen (I'm Australian), some may say that this is something that doesn't entirely effect me - but I believe that it really does. Australia and the U.S. have such close ties that I think that this isn't just a curse on the States - or Australia - but the whole world. I also think that if everyone in the world had been given the chance to vote between Bush and Kerry on election day - Kerry would definitely have won. How unfortunate that this wasn't so.

"I’m proud of President Bush." Okay, I understand that everyone has the right to have their own opinion and all, but I just can't understand this. How could anyone be proud in a man who has been the cause to so much heartache all over the world. Seeing the elderly Iraqi woman bawling her eyes out in 'Fahrenheit 9/11' - screaming about the injustice that has been done to her country...that just made me even more upset and angry. I won't start going into it all, because if I do, I will find it extremely hard to stop. Also - "But I'm not going to say that it's "okay" that they have chosen this path in their life, though." I don't understand this either. If someone chooses to be in a sexual relationship with someone of the same sex - who is anyone to tell them that they shouldn't be doing this? Everyone is their own person, and the sooner that people stay out of the private lives of others - the better off everyone will be.

Top work on the deviation though - what was everyone thinking?

Yeah, we'd be better off with a man who can't stand by his decision more than 5 minutes...who says it's ok to have an abortion right up to the minute before the head clears the womb..the guys a freakin' senetor and hasn't felt hte need to show up for one single vote in his last two years in office...

Bush won..he didn't need to bribe..and he sure as hell didn't threaten anyone or any other stupid ideas I've seen in this thread....he's your President..if you don't like it move elsewhere..I'm sure we can find a nice country that is still in the shape Iraq was before we entered....you'll love it there....

Once again this generation shows that they can't see more than 2 days in the future..they expect everything perfect..they expect everything now..they expect everyone else to hand it to them....guess what...the world owes you nothing.....

And I suppose you support the killing of 100,000 innnocent Iraqis, the continued dependancy on resources that create pollution and will accelerate global warming. You agree with young women being forced to bear children that were given to them by anonymous rapists, and also agree to the deaths of countless mothers who will die in childbirth because of these unfortunate circumstances. You agree with the fact that we have allowed Osama to escape to attack the US another day. You agree with the fact that the national surplus has been turned into a multi-trillion deficit that can only be paid off by taxation of the US population, i.e: OUR generation.

Our generation is the one most affected by this man's mistakes, but from your perspective, you probably don't care about the future if you don't respect the youth's right to dissent.

Real patriots question authority, buster. We, unlike you, like to THINK OVER THE ISSUES that will affect the world, instead of clinging to religious dogma, and whether you like it or not, we have a right to opinion.

One more thing: Please verify your supposed maturity by using appropriate language in your subsequent posts. You want to be counted among the adults, you'd better act the part.

"And I suppose you support the killing of 100,000 innnocent Iraqis,"
That's 10% of the innocent Iraq's killed by the man we removed....it's also an inflated number that has already been proven inaccurate at best.

"the continued dependancy on resources that create pollution and will accelerate global warming."
I could care less about global warming. Global warming won't kill the planet. The oplanet is fine, we're the ones in trouble.

"You agree with young women being forced to bear children that were given to them by anonymous rapists, and also agree to the deaths of countless mothers who will die in childbirth because of these unfortunate circumstances."
That's a dumbass comment. I'm in favor of abortion depending on the circumstances. Waiting till the last week of the last trimester isn't one of em.

"You agree with the fact that we have allowed Osama to escape to attack the US another day."
"Allowed"? I suppose you had a beter plan? Care to share it?

"You agree with the fact that the national surplus has been turned into a multi-trillion deficit that can only be paid off by taxation of the US population, i.e: OUR generation."
That's not the only way. that shows narrow-minded thinking.

"Our generation is the one most affected by this man's mistakes, but from your perspective, you probably don't care about the future if you don't respect the youth's right to dissent."
Thinking of yourself again. first of all I don't agree it's a mistake. That's a matter of opinion not fact. It's my generations children that are out there dieing. Do not tell me it affects only you, it affects everyone. You have no clue as to my perspective.

"Real patriots question authority, buster. We, unlike you, like to THINK OVER THE ISSUES that will affect the world, instead of clinging to religious dogma, and whether you like it or not, we have a right to opinion."
The world was about to step in on your doorstep and put a bullet in your head. For some of us it threw an airplane at us and dropped a building on our heads.
I didn't once spout "religious dogma". Again I am sure you couldn't begin to grasp my concept of religion. Nor did I say you had no right to an opinion. True to form you have taken something nonexistant and started whining it was a personal attack on you.

Then that's a fat lot you know about science. The evidence is all there; pollution is real, and it's damaging the planet.

"'Allowed'? I suppose you had a beter plan? Care to share it?"
Hmm...let us think about this, shall we? We have the man who caused us to go to war in the first place cornered in a cave....and suddenly, we ignore him! I WONDER WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE DONE INSTEAD?

"That's not the only way. that shows narrow-minded thinking."
Oh, right. We've got lots of oil to sell now. Forgive me for over-reacting.

Did I say that? No. Read carefully; you’re the one who’s being selfish.

I've been in mourning ever since I learned that idiot won. I just hope the Bush Administration really -does- mess up, so I can go 'told you so' to all the Bush fans nearby. Something I found interesting about the election was that Kerry received many votes from people who completed college, where bush didn't get nearly as much...I wonder why.
