Description So, is her name Valvalis, or Barbariccia? I always knew her as Valvalis through the multiple (mistranslated) ports of Final Fantasy IV, but FFIV DS went back to her intended name, Barbariccia. Still, I kinda prefer Valvalis, but that's just me.

I put this one together a long time ago, but held off on submitting it. The sculpt itself is a bit of an error in judgment, as I used a sort of noodle-maker for the hair as an experiment. In retrospect, not the greatest move. Her in-game look always gave me the impression of a Nordic feel, so that's what I went with when sculpting her face, way back when. Overall, I like this picture, even though it has plenty of blur to give the rotating effect of Valvalis/Barbariccia in her "hair tornado" form. I tried a few things with putting debris flying around her as well, but I'm not quite good enough with photoshop at the moment to make it convincing, methinks. So, I'm putting it up as it is. Hope you like.

I too, prefer the name Valvalis. Though I'm on my... I don't even know the number now, play through of the DS version, I'm growing accustom to Barbariccia.

This is very nice! I love her face, and the hair looks great! It looks very... rugged. Though she seems like the kind of girl who might pamper herself, no womans hair looks tame, after being caught in high winds. I do so love the over all effect, and I'd love to see this without the blur.

I'm getting used to the new/Japanese version's name too.

I have a pic without the blur somewhere, maybe someday I might upload it. It's probably languishing on the hard drive of my dead computer, so we'll see!

That is amazing that you can sculpt that! You have a great talent <3

Glad my stock could be of some use ^^

Thanks very much--it's always a good feeling (not to mention a relief!) when the stock artist whose work I used to improve my meager sculpts gives their approval. Thanks again for allowing such great shots to be used.

I always enjoyed playing with kitchen equipment and play-doh when I was a kid, so I can't exactly blame you for wanting to try something new out. Interesting effect, but probably would have been easier to sculpt the strands out of the sculpty than try to get all those noodles in place without crushing them!

In retrospect, it was probably sheer laziness that brought this pasta-inspired hairdo about. I probably just looked at the reference picture and thought 'hmm...how can I get around doing all that hair...?'

But you're right--it probably would've been easier, and would've looked a crapload more convincing. Too late now...

Probably a good place to stop...I can't think of anything that rhymes with 'sculpt.' Hmmm...

Barbariccia's Voice in FF4DS gives me the creeps.

She has always been my Favorite elemental lord though.

Yeah, that was a bit creepy. She was my fave too, closely followed by Rubicante, of course.
