Alongside the Flick Fox cartoons, Goof-O-Grams created another cartoon series called the "Jolly Jingles" which was an anthology series of cartoons all placed under a single name which had characters that were one-offs and recurring depending on their popularity. One of these toons "Mutton for Punishment" gave birth to another cartoon star of the studio, being Mary Lamb. Mary appears in this cartoon as Flick Fox's target of the week, in one of Flick's few Jolly Jingles appearances, the idea of the short was what if the prey that Flick was chasing was a complete psycho and had no sense of mercy whatsoever. Which is what happened and in the short Mary mangled and attacked Flick in a variety of twisted ways to "save" herself.
The short and the character proved to be a big hit with audiences and so Mary became a recurring Jolly Jingles character, though her design and personality would change upon her next appearance. In her next short "Pop Goes the Wolf" Mary would become less psychotic and was given more clear motivation for her actions, in this short it was to protect her two kids who wouldn't listen to her warnings about the Wolf and Weasel (who made their first appearance here and became Mary's most popular adversaries onward). In this short, Mary went from mischievous trouble-maker to guile hero often using her wits and resources to outsmart and defeat her opponents, though she still often used that hardcore violence she showed off in Mutton for Punishment. As the years would go on, Mary would star in many more Jolly Jingles cartoons and face many more adversaries than Wolf and Weasel whenever the creators got bored with using the same two villains. These include: Hyuck, Flick Fox, The Predator Pack, and classic storybook villains who appeared in parody shorts of famous stories (Hansel & Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin, etc).
After Goof-O-Grams lost the rights to Flick and the company was going into debt the Jolly Jingles stopped being produced and Mary stopped appearing in cartoon shorts altogether. It wouldn't be until the early 80's where the animation company Dizzyworks would buy all the Goof-O-Grams cartoons and characters that Mary would resurface, granted however Mary has still never made another major appearance and instead has been included as a special extra or cameo in many modern Dizzyworks cartoons and tv-shows.
