This... actually makes sense if you look at it. So, the Almighty, omnipotent, benevolent God tells us not to eat from a tree He puts in the middle of his perfect garden, that good ol' A and E probably walked by all the damn time. If we do, we're essentially dead to Him, and our descendants get to suffer for the mistakes of our ancestors. Yet, He knew all this was going to happen anyway. And He still gets mad? That never made sense to me, and I just went along with everything I was told because I was kept ignorant of other religious beliefs and interpretations until high school. But this makes all the pieces click; I like this version of good ol' Jehovah, almost like someone who sets up one of those complicated Rube Goldberg machines, then sits back and watches it go. Sure, it may not always go the way He intended, in fact it might just fall apart altogether, but whatever happens will be entertaining either way.
Man, that's a lot of theological waxing from a guy who doesn't even believe in God.
