Description This is one of the rare pictures that I've done where I didn't flesh everything out in pencil first. I think I did the head and the curves of the spine and tail, but all the details I just tossed in with the brush pen I was using. I had no idea it would be as popular as it was.

I usually don't like peacock gryphons but this one is gorgeous. I may just like them all cuz of this one.

Whoa! I love him! I have a drawing of a pavogryph too he's a cutie, it's nice to know that others like gryphon sub-species too *favs* I agree you should do a colored version, the plumage takes forever but it's worth it.

Very gorgeous. You should make a colored version too. I'm such a sucker for gryphons, especially rare and unique ones. I've always wanted to do a peacock one, and now I just might! Lovely work.

I've been considering coloring it! I really want to learn how to water color, this might be a good image to practice on. I'd love to see you do a peacock gryphon! It would be very cool.

I'm not usually a big fan of inked pictures, but in this case, I think I'll make an exception. This is wonderful!

Awe, thank you! And she is a he. In the peacock world, the males are all pretty and girly looking.

Ya know, I never thought to make prints of this. I didn't think black and white would be all that popular.

This is gorgeous! I am especially drawn to the elegant curve of the neck, wings, and the detailed plume. I greatly admire your skill with feathers.

Indeed, tis awsome penwork! I've yet to work wings out right, but yours look great.

Thank you! The thing to remember about wings is that they have the same general bone structure as arms. Stand in front of a mirror and look at your arms the way you'd want your wings to go, and imagin that your hand and fingers are much longer than they are. I'll have to post a drawing explaining what I mean.

it's so good. did it take you long to draw and then ink in?

Beerhorse In reply to tassel [2004-03-01 16:43:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh gee, I can't remember! I hate inking though, so it either takes me forever, or not much time at all because I don't put a lot of effort into it. In the case of the Peacock Gryphon though, the lack of effort seems to be it's biggest bonus. I just swooped around with the brush pen, never expecting it to look as good as it did when I was done.
