Description UF5.

Tried out the image import in the new version of UF and I have to say I really like it. The mosaic-like texture is a photo of a wall which I then distorted with some mapping.

Incredible.. I've been wondering what size the imported image should be? Can you give me any advice on that bearing in mind the final render size could be quite large?

Thank you Anna...As for the image size, my understanding is any size can be imported. On the uf mailing list someone mentioned they imported an almost 3000x3000 image with no problem.
I tried to import a large png file twice and got an error. I thought it was too big but there was an apparent bug which Frederik has fixed with the release of UF 5.01.

Ahh thanks for that - I got an email about the bug fix today so I must download it. My, that's a large image that someone imported! I haven't tried it yet, but thought I'd use a jpeg..

That reminds me of a documentary I saw a couple of days ago, about some ancient gold mines in the north of Spain. To gather the gold, the Romans contrived an impressive method which involved stripping the area of the mountains. And since they didn't have explosives, they used... water. It's incredible the destruction they could achieve.

So, this one reminded me of the reconstruction of the water exploding out of the side of the mountain.

Thanks so much...I haven't used most of the new stuff and I know I won't be using the formula classes since I'm an idiot when it comes to math. I really like the ability to choose multiple layers when making changes and the thumbs are a nice addition.
