You know that one character trope where they have like "a mask" that they have to let down to get into the good part of the character? This guy is like the opposite of that. You put on the suit and then he feels comfortable enough to express himself, and without it he feels exposed and defensive.

But yeah he is a shapeshifter so technically he can look like anything that's around the same amount of mass, but like? It's like smiling. After like ten minutes you're like "ow. my face."
One facial feature is much easier to keep track of than the usual human number so generally tends to use one at a time. Usually eyes or mouth.
He also naturally has four arms but that attracts The Attention so fuck that.
