y'all, uh....any y'all know howda draw a cat .
my monster design philosophy is very very anti-human
unless it's some sorta ghosty shape-shifter, humanoid designs just aint my thing, idk
like, why would you make a movie about aliens, and then have all the aliens just funny-colored humans (and a cat and a tree )
a waste! a tragedy!!!
im gonna do the opposite of that.
im gonna make stuff that's even supposed to be human non-human.
see how it feels. ):<

also yea i agree with you, whenevs i watch an alien/monster/scifi/whatever movie, i find myself super disapointed when the designs are rlly lacking and unoriginal, i understadn its easer to make a creature look more human for special effect reasons, BUT ITS 2018 GET SOME COOL CGI AND MAKE A FUCCIN TIGER SQUID WITH MASSIVE CLAWS THAT GLOWS????? LIKE??????? GO WILD????!!

I try to avoid that as well.. though Im not sure im doing so well at it.
"Like Humans, but with blue skin and pointy ears" is so lackluster.
Swapping human faces for monkey faces in mythological creatures is fun : P

you can swap human faces out for monkies, but I don't know about other monsters, you know?? Like minotaurs and satyrs? I'll have to be more creative with those.

Mm, dunno of anything specific I can suggest for Minotaurs/Satyrs, perhaps look up interesting alternate options to use as the base animal.. like Takins for goats www.zooborns.com/.a/6a01053564…

or take a completely different part and construct somethign similar with ddifferent parts

I mean, I guess it's somewhat understandable. Like in movies, it's more convenient to have humanoid characters because an actor in make-up is easier to work with than CG. But even in books and comics and games, humanoid designs rule. You can't excuse it with convenience there, that's just laziness and familiarity.
