Originally I was going to make this a status update and post this big long deep thing, but I decided not to for no particular reason. Still, I want to have some kind of meaningful message so here we go:
I feel as though people put art (and the artists behind them) to this almost godly degree. It's as if you're expected to make masterpieces every time you pick up a pencil, marker, paintbrush, etc.. The attention of being "the artist" feels great at first, and seeing people's reactions to something you've made with your own two hands is extremely rewarding, until it isn't. It feels great until making great art turns into an expectation, the fun is taken out of it. Something that used to bring you so much joy, happiness, and comfort doesn't anymore. It has become a job, a chore, just another thing to stress you out.
So please, enjoy your art. Of course it may be work for you, but don't forget why you started it. Remember to have fun with it, have crappy little doodles. Make that cringey fanart, use crayons and test out new materials that you're not sure how to use. If you don't feel like creating some huge masterpiece just so those around you will feel fed (if that makes sense0, then don't. Draw what makes you happy.
