Description A rollover image from my 'How to survive being Swallowed by a Whale' website. Hovering the mouse over the image showed the internals, and an example as to build a shelter with shipwreck if possible.

---------------------------------------------
Down the Hatch!

So you’re out at sea. On a boat, ship, yatch, raft, or even just swimming afar from shore. You’ve probably seen it many times before; a gigantic whale sees you as food. Sometimes it’s an accident, or the whale is unaware to your existence. Point is, these large sea creatures have a huge mouth, and bigger hunger. Pulled in along with a current of water, you and maybe your boat end up taking a one way trip to the whale’s belly.

First Thing's First

As soon as you enter the belly of the beast, the first thing you should do is making sure your okay. Nothing broken, hurt or sprained. Then observe your surroundings. If you’re hurt, find yourself a safe place to rest. Depending on the severity of your injuries, you’ll want to escape soon to seek medical attention.

Avoiding the Whale's Stomach Acids

Of course you won't want to stay swimming in the whale's bile and stomach acids for very long. You should seek shelter out of them as soon as possible. Or else you'll be digested (and later, turned into poop!). If your boat is destroyed, use the wreckage to build a small makeshift shelter. If your boat is in great condition, use it to the best of it’s capability as a shelter. It will also help keep you afloat. If those options don’t work for you, then perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to find other ship wreckage to use. Shelter should be built in higher areas of the stomach, to avoid the coming and going water. If you build a raft, or ship then you can take advantage of staying out of water. As with any shelter what’s important is having a roof, here so you can keep stomach mucus or acid dripping down on you.

Food and Supplies

You’re not very likely to escape any time soon, so you’ll need basic supplies. Considering the vast size of a whale’s stomach, your boat or someone else’s boat wreck may be around. Whale's swallow all sorts of junk that could be useful. In case you spend a much longer time inside the whale, you could always catch the fish and small seafood the whale eats.

Long Term Living

Let’s say you want to stay. You hate civilization, you like a rather unique yet simple life. You want to stay and live the rest of your life in a whale’s stomach? Your weird, but this guide won’t judge you. With a good enough shelter, a high tolerance for fish and seafood, and lungs that could adjust to the gross humid air; you could potentially live a good long time inside the stomach of a whale. With a constant food supply, and air supply being swallowed in. However keep in mind what a stomach is for. Digesting food, and those stomach acids pooling at the bottom of the whale’s stomach aren’t safe to be in too long. Which is why it’s required to build shelter out of them. To avoid becoming your temporary home's next bowel movement!
