This piece is for =freaky665 's "Dreams and Fantasies" Contest.

When i was a little girl i had vivid nightmares that a cloaked hag was coming to take me away. It was horrible and so real to me that it affected me for years. In a sort of contrast to this dream i always had a dream i was flying through a mythical forest (with faeries and goblins and elves.....every creature i had loved and read in books).

The as i grew up the nightmares subsided and so unfortunately did the wonderful forest dreams. It seems that all good things come with a sinister side. You can not have one without the other.

However, just after this contest started i had another dream. The most vivid and real one i can remember (all the dreams of my early childhood had faded into a blur). It was the cloaked woman again but this time she had a scythe. And she was searching for me.

I was in this village and she was there following me, killing everyone vicously. I didn't knew who they were but they were dying because of me.....

and then i woke up.

And in that strange moment between dreaming and waking i was partly still dreaming. It was (apart from my panic attacks) one of the scariest moments of my life. Thinking that cloaked woman was coming to creep up and open my bedroom door, that my family were already dead.

I was paranoid for several nights afterwards, scared to sleep lest she return to haunt me. It took several weeks before i could sleep peacefully and without fear.

And then the wonderful happened. A single night i had the wonderful forest dream. As with the nightmare i had just experience this was wonderfully vivid. I was flying through the most beautiful foresti had ever seen or i was sure ever would see.

Creatures of every colour and shape watched me fly overhead. Then a new stage of the dream began. I was floating weightlessly over seamless ice, warm light enveloping me......I was compltely relaxed....completely at peace....and i felt liberated.....

Liberated rom normal life, and the cares of exams and money.....all of it was gone. And then i woke. It was sad but i was so grateful for the dream i'd been given.

So when i went on DA the next day and saw =freaky665 's contest i knew i should try and make my wonderful dream a reality.

I tried to capture the sense of freedom, movement, joy and brilliant colours in on piece....and it was unbelivably hard but i am pleased with the result.

I know that it is nowhere near as special and wonderful as the dream was but then that wasn't the reason for doing this. I wanted to encapsulate a smalle piece of my wonderful world....to have it forever.....

and i think i've acheived that.

(I might do an accomany piece of the woman in the scythe if i can find the right stock in time and also whether i can pluck up the courage to try and make her reality.)
