I'm glad I stumbled upon this contest just because I was planning to do a pre-Vday artwork that doesn't involve love between two people [trust me, i am sick of it] and here it is! I tried to combine my concepts on my love for several things - people and the things I love doing.

And the BW psychedelic pattern has a lot of hidden stuff in it. I wanted to emphasize how I think about the word love - which is like a game of cards [you never know when you will get], love is blind [ironically, i guess], love is magical [hence, the magic wand], love evolves through the course of time, and it can move mountains [see if you can find the mountains! i had fun doing those ].

It was a challenge to do this - I had to integrate black & white and colored. Hopefully it turned out fine I guess XO

Let me just tell you some focal points about this artwork: the rolling film [tape?] has my friends, family, and one drawing I did before [Secret Valentine] with an X marked on it. Because I'd rather forget about it, but it never ceases to leave me, so yeah. Then I put my country's flag on the plane - I love traveling, exploring new places, I also love nature and of course art & music. But the mixed tape there has some sort of meaning - I love this song "Mixtape" by Butch Walker and that song always reminded me of someone special, so I drew that.

Materials: water colors [for the BG and some parts], Staedtler pens, 0.8 fineliner, 0.2 fineliner, markers.

Time: Jan. 26-29, 2009 so that's about 3-4 hrs a day
