Description
After her Kits trotted back to the den to fight over breakfast Mama Fox stood and studied us for a few moments. Then she was off to probably find something else to bring back to her hungry mouths. Still sporting some of her winter coat it looks like she hasn't been eating much herself but rather concentrated on making sure her young ones are well fed

she had just dropped off a poor unfortunate 13-lined Ground Squirrels that one of her young kits quickly gobbled up and just watched us for 30 secs or so. I assume to assess if we were any danger to her or her young?

one never knows for sure but we were trying to just observe and photograph and not interfere at all .... FOR SURE no direct harm

She looks quite unhealthy indeed, yet it does not make the image less beautiful. Really nicely done =o I love it.

Sometimes when a fox sheds its winter coat, it looks as though it has mange. She's probably fine.
