They're questioning of what was the point of it all, why they were summoned by robed beings, why keep killing each other over and over again, only to be brought back even after the nexus was destroyed.

The summoner lore is still there, although in pieces, like the summoner spells. Why would they keep calling it that if they're gonna be removing it?

It's all recon from Runeterra, they don't exist in-lore. The term summoner is still used to refer to the players. What happens in game does not equate to what's in lore.
