A couple of characters from a Fallout: Equestria PnP game my boyfriend is a part of - his alicorn OC, Terminal, and 's changeling OC, Shade.This was supposed to be a simpler coloring job but I ended up getting carried away with it (I suspect it's due to my recent aversion to coloring things). I'm really not sure how the lighting turned out either, that was totally experimental, and I may've had a bit too much fun coming up with patterns for those socks...
Terminal and Shade belong to their aforementioned creators.

Very beautiful, the romance between unicorn and changling is quite a dangerous minefield to trot in, but this is one of the safe zones. I like the colors, the style and the sense of love and belonging

The lighting is less peccable than all other known lighting. It is good lighting.

If only I could do more lighting / shading experiments. I don't know what it is about ponies, but it seems as if my most successful painting experiments are done while working on pony fanart.

Ponies remove lots of variables. Simpler geometry, easy curvesβand hey, maybe, just maybe, they feel less personal and are hence easier to take risks with.

You're onto something with the simpler geometry point - I suspected the same thing myself, in general pony anatomy tends to be a lot less complex than human forms (even if they're already quite simplified, i.e. cartoon / manga style). Not to mention the (usual) lack of clothing part - gawd knows I spend way too much time trying to get shading right on that. -_-
