Description
Is she an alien? A genetic experiment? Another accidental or deliberate 'super'? A Genate or mutant? Some mythical being?
Nobody but she seems to know, and she's not telling!
Ducky is pretty much an open book on any subject you could wish except who or what she is, and where she's from! She's told so many different variations of her life now, it might even be impossible to know without resorting to genetic identification...
Unfortunately, that's where her powers hinder things; whatever Ducky is, she seems to have the uncanny ability that any sample of DNA obtained from her... is simply lost. Without explanation, sometimes in the most unlikely, yet undeniably possible, circumstances.
If you're lucky enough to obtain a sample of her genetic material by any means, you're probably about to have a very very bad time; samples from Ducky have been lost to fire, flood, lightning strike, rabid mutant beaver attack, spontaneous gravitational anomaly, and, most often, simple irreparable contamination.
It seems highly unlikely that she could consciously cause or will any of this to happen, thus it appears to be some 'quirk of fate' style power, yet she is undeniably secretive and even misleading about anything pertaining to her species, family, or place of origin.
She even claims to be neither mammal, reptile, amphibian or any such thing, and once insisted she was a fish. A fish, however, is one thing that people are reasonably confident she is not.
Most people believe she is a mammal, and cite some rather obvious visual evidence that points to the classification. In fact, unlike most normal humans, she has four breasts- a large upper pair and a slightly smaller secondary pair beneath those; this fact, too, has been mumbled as 'evidence' that she's 'not human', but unsubstantiated, of course.
Her chosen name, 'Ducky', has remained consistent, as has her stated reason for the choice; she likes ducks, and she saw a cartoon dinosaur with the same name, so it was clearly a good name.
When her similarities to animals such as a giraffe have been pointed out she has claimed that she either finds no resemblance whatsoever, or feigns not knowing what a giraffe even is.
Telepaths, intuatives, and lie detection science have all come up with dissatisfying results; her mind cannot be read, her biology remains steady as though /everything/ she says /is/ the truth, and (in the case of those who can gain even a little bit of access to her mind) she seems to forever be telepathically humming 60s rock songs. This remains unexplained.
Aside from her eccentric existence, her personality is actually fairly kind if varying between childishly and flirtingly playful; it doesn't matter the gender or species, she will flirt and play. She is undoubtedly pansexual.
Her kindness has a limit, though; she can be deliberately peevish and wrathful in petty inconvenient fashion if wronged or she happens to take a dislike to someone.
Her resistence to mind-reading or telepathy (a drawback as she cannot even hear telepathic messages, it seems) is not her only power; she seems to be able to sense all kinds of energy, be they mystical or natural or manmade, utilising the 'horns' on her head. These also seem to be a rather sensitive part of her, reacting in a fairly sensual manner at the slightest physical touch from another being.
It's also known that she possesses the ability to see in both the visible and ultra violet spectrums. This can be both useful and gross, often at the same time, and she delights in the mild discomfort she can potentially cause with the skill.
Apart from her obvious physical advantages over most humans (she stands at nearly 8 ft tall if you count her horns, her legs are powerful enough to let her leap up to 30ft in the air, and she has the durability to avoid harming herself with such a feat, plus she's capable of lifting roughly 12 tonnes) the above are the extent of her 'super' powers. She has no resistence to telekinesis, nor is she telekinetic or truly telepathic herself. She seems capable of rudimentary magic, but only to the same extent an ordinary, mortal, human might be.
Ducky likes to travel and might be found in any city that peaks her interest- how she affords her lifestyle is another secret she doesn't seem to want to tell- but her 'hometown', or at least the place she always seems to come back to, is Spire City.
