There are some interesting imaginings of nanites.
As long as you keep in mind they are not Nicoles nanites...you'll be fine. Don't get scarried.

Nicole is a computer from Sonic, if I'm not mistaken? (Either Sonic comics or SatAM, correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't really been following Sonic lately)
I love the slight glow and pixelly things around her that tells you she's a sort of computer avatar ^^. I think the pixel things could be made a little less obvious, like fade them out a bit, so that they're noticeable but not just sticking out, like "BAM!!! Obvious!". (Just giving you a little art advice, I'm still learning myself)

Yes, Nicole (first it SatAM and after in Archie comics) is a computer, and in the past year or so, her consciousness has developed further, and she made a nanite (nanobot-like) version of herself, sort of her avatar, as you said.
