Description
Elly was trying very hard not to panic not only would it would do no good it might be damnging, it might cause more accidental magic. The owl was a great comfort to have, it had fallen a sleep while being petted. But that was fine Elly enjoyed having him very much. But the peace that was stiffling the panic was shatred, Elonare was up and angry.
"Lloyd! Lloyd! Where are you?!" She souned furrious.
The owl was stratled awake and looked around, it looked puzzled till Elenore came in the room.
Elenore opened her mouth to say something, something awful no doubt then she saw the owl and screamed.
"Lloyd, Jeenna that girl brouggt a bird into the house!"
"I know mother it about to leave, its waiting for my letter." Lloyd said so caulaully as if this was normal fot them.
"Lloyd i want that bird out now!" Elonore demaned. "Were is Jenna?" Elonre was now looking for back up.
Elly got off the couc, carrying the owl went to the kitche for water.
"Young lady you get rid of that thing right now!" Eleonore shouted
Elly stayed quite, to repounde and tell her 'no' would only infouate her more and make things worse. Elly got a bowl and a cup and filled both with water from the tap. She and the owl drank their water. "Look sorry shes like that but theres nothing we can do about her."
The owl knodded his head and Elly petted him.
"your a very good owl." Elly was pleased that he closed his eyes and that he was not scared or flew away.
Elly was vaugly aware that her uncle and grandmother were arguing but she could ignore them it was only when she heard her aunte voice did she actually pay attention. But it did not matter they were shouting so much you could not discute one from another.
Jenna and Elenore stormed into the kitchen, both seemed livid.
"What is that dirty bird doing in my kitchen?!" Jenna was a foot away from Elly glaring down at her. Ellone was on Lloyds side nearset the door.
"He was thirst." Elly told her looking her in the eyes.
"Don't be smart with me!" Jenna screams"That dirt bird has to go!"
Elly took a deep breath and tryed to calm herself, but she really wanted to punch her aunt in the face. "He is not dirty and he is leaving soon."
"I finished the letter..."
"You still have not exsplained that." Jenna rouned on her husband.
"Elly has done accidental magic for years but it seems that the Americans were lienat, the British Misinstry of Magic is very upset that she has performed magic outside of school."
"Well of course the Americans are soft and leienat they always are." Elonore looked to her granddaughter, daring her to give her cheek.
'Go to hell old croon.' Elly thought but did not show any outward sign she heard anything Elonore said.
"Well, anyways I wrote them a letter and this owl will sent it to them." Lloyd said as he tired the letter to the leg of the owl; He than opened the window and the owl flew off.
Elly was sad to see it go but she knew he was just a visitor, she hoped it would devilver the responce letter. Elly knew there was nothing to do but wait and hope that things would turn out fine.
"What did you tell them Lloyd?" Jenna says with an accusing tone.
"That Elly has trouble controlling her magic, she was not practicing magic, and its my opion that at Hogwarts she'll get a better education, clearly they failed her at her old school." Lloyd said with a voice of convenience.
"Thank you for your help uncle Lloyd." Elly looked him right in the eyes. Normally when she looked an adult in the eyes, it was to challenge and defiey but this time it was to show sincerer appreciation. Elly knew this was a truing point in their relationship, Lloyd had done a lot for her in a short amount of time, this was a turning point. But the question is will this new direction gain momentum or would it turn back the way it came?
Only time would tell.
Elly looked to to her other relatives, Jenna and Eleanore she looked into their eyes and saw their body laungue and knew then and there they would never change. Her relationship with them would remine as it is and she could live wit that.
"Okay everybody I think tea, sandwiches and biscuits are needed. Elly clean the dishes and help out, and do we still have English Breakfast?" Lloyd was being overly cheery to help break the tension.
Elly quietly did what she was told, she washed the cup she used and the bowl and helped Lloyd with the food. Eleonore make busticts and Jenna looks for tea, she put the water in the kettle and put the kettle on the stove. Jenna sat down when the kettle was on the stove and watches as others worked, she never offered to help with anything. When the water was boiled she poured the hot water into four cups and put the tea bags in. She got the cream, sugar, and napkins and put them on the table. They ate in silence the food was good and the tea was just right but they all constaly was looking at the kitchen widow to see if the owl had returned. But lunch came and went with no new letter.
Elly did the dishes and went back to her room, and quitly watched T.V tell there was a tapping o her bedroom window. Elly looked to the window and had the breath stolen from her, the owl was not the hansome dappled owl, this owl was the cleanest white with a lovely silver tones. Elly rushes to the window and openes it. The owl flies in with grace and lades on her telavsion.
"You are gorgeous." Elly told the newset bird visotor.
The owl fluffed with pride and stuck out the leg with the letter, Elly took the letter. "stay a mintute I'll get you water and right back."
It was than that Elly read who the letter was from, it was Harry. "Oh my god, from Harry! Your Harry's owl?"
The owl knoed her head.
"Oh my God, he never told me he had an owl, oh ah, right I'll get your water." Elly said and put the letter under the Telavion to hid it. "I have to ask a silly thing from you: You have to hid, if my relatives fine you...they are not nice people." Elly said and picked up the owl.
"Your beautiful and soft I should get my own owl." Elly put Hedwig in the closet, petted her head and carfully shut the door. "I'm sorry I'll be right back."
Elly did what she was getting use to doing, an owl comes in get it water. With the bowl of water Elly carfully goes up stires and puts the water in the closet and Hedwig drinks. Elly takes the letter from under the T.V. and opened it.
Dear Elly
I knew I would be picked up by The Weasley for my birthday but I never knew that they would keep me for the rest of the summer holidays!
I'm sorry I won't spend it with you and that you can't be here right now. I told everybody all about you and they all want to meet you.
Soon We'll be in school together and you'll get to meet everybody, you'll like them I promise. Mrs. Weasley is sending you something
I don't know what but its for your birthday. Maybe next year we can find a way for you to spend holidays over here. How are you Elly?
I hope you are well and your holiday is fun and your family is leaving you alone. We all look forward to seeing you at school.
Harry
P.s Hedwig will wait for you to write back
Elly had a lot to tell Harry and quickly went to work on writing a letter back. When the letter was finished Elly got Hedwig out of the closest, tied the letter to her leg.
"Okay Hedwig back to Harry thank you for your time, be safe."
Hedwig gave a gentle nip on the finger and took of with great spreed.
Elly wached as Hedwig flew higher and higher and father and father away. She would just have to wait to for the next letter, seeing Harry again and wait for school to start. Elly was very touched that someone she did not know was giving her a prestent, it was very sweet and she now could look forward to that.
The holidays were very different for Harry and Elly.
Harry was enjoying his temporary life at the Burrow, it was a complete turn around from life on Privet Drive. From the house diffrence, The Dursleys could not stand if anything was out of place, most things at the Burrow did not seem to have a perminte place to be. While the Dursleys did not like or love Harry and wanted him out of their sight and unhappy the Weasley family made him feel welcomed and happy. Harry was kept busy when the twins weren't in their room they weer teaching Harry how to pick locks the muggle way. They thought it was necessary since Harry would go back to Privet Drive and Hedwig would go back to being locked in and Harry did not want to keep stealing the key from his uncle. Percy and Ron would play chess but mostly it was Ron who played. Ginny was shy but not unplesent and would make small conversation. Molly would try to over fed him and dotted over him and Aurthur would question him about muggles and muggle things but would ask him about him and would hug him when he came home like any of his children. Harry went to bed every night a little jealous of Ron's life his great and loving family.
Elly had a very boring routine: she got out of bed, she ate breakfast, got dressed and left with her things in her purse and went to the park. She could not consentrat on the books, and nothing in the play park could amuse her for long. Everyday was very boring and she longed to see Harry again and to go to her new school. Her relatives ignored her completely, even Lloyd and she had hoped that he had changed. Elly was wishing for something new to happen and it did. An owl fell from the sky and onto Elly. Elly of course screamed and was scared but quickly pulled herself together.
"Oh you poor thing are you alright?" Elly conned to the panting bird.
"Hoot." It said softly and blinked at her slowly.
Elly put the feeble owl on its feet and then she noticed something obvious, a package and letter tired to his legs. Elly opened the letter first
Dear Elly
My name is Molly Weasly I'm Ron's mother and Harry as you know is staying with my family. He has told us so much about you and I feel I know you. You, Ron, Harry and Hermione will be great friends I just know it! I am sorry I could not give this to you in person. I look forward to meeting you and so dose everyone in the Waesly clan. Be safe dear!
Mrs. Weasly
Elly was very moved by the simple letter, she carefully folded it and put it in her purse. Elly than took the package and unwrapped it, it was a blue, handmade coin-purse. It matched her purse perfectly, Elly loved it, and put it away. Elly was very thankful to Mrs. Weasly and she would be happy to thank her in person. She was sure that their owl could not make it home in time before school started.
"You poor thing your very tired." she petted it but didn't know what else to do for it. She coudn't claim the tree or take it home...well she would have a fight with her relatives if she brought him into the house but she could sneak him into the sheed. Elly did just that, she picked up her purse, the owl and walked home and in the back yard was the shed that had only a lawnmower and a work table so there was plenty of room. Elly put the owl on the bench and patted his head.
"I'll be right back." Elly told the owl who hooted softy.
Elly went into the house to find things that would help the owl feel more comfortable, she felt at first that she should get towels, sheets or a blanket but she reminded herself that its an owl not a cat or dog. She should get a perch for him and water of course. Elly went into the house to try to find something that would make a good perch but it also had to be something the family would not miss. Elly was considering a cardboard box so he could sit on the lip and have newspaper all around. But than Elly remembered a plastic crate which she felt would be more stable and more room for his feet. Elly got the crate from the side of the house, Elly did not remeber why it was there but did not think it would be missed. Elly went inside and got the newspaper from the bin next to the fireplace. She went to the shed and put the newspaper down, than the crate and put the owl on top. The owl seemed happy and hooted with cheer. "I'll be back again." Elly promised. She heard a happy 'hoot' from behind her.
Elly got a bowl, filled it with water and carefully brought it to the shed for the awaiting owl. Elly balanced the bowl on a corner next to the owl for easy accuse. The owl lowered his head and drank a little, then began to prim and groom.
"Okay so your happy I'll leave you alone now. The door will be open when you want to leave."
'Hoo" Said the grateful bird and went back to feather cleaning.
"Try not to knock your water over, good bye."
"Hoo"
With the problem solved Elly felt very good, it was nice to do something for someone else. But with that over she realized she would go back with noting to do. She grabbed, on sheer impulse her purse and opened and grabbed the new coin-purse. It made her so happy just to see it but to hold see felt great. Elly walked, holding her tiny purse and went back to the park to read. She sat at her favorite bench under her favorite tree, pulled out her book, and read her book and for the first time in a long time she could read the words and follow the story, she was enjoying her books again.
Harry was sitting by an open window looking for Hedwig to come back. Harry had mailed off the letter a week ago and the Waslsys had assured him that the journey would be long for an owl and Hedwig probably got the letter to her by now and Hedwig might not come back for another day. But Harry knew that today she would come back.
"Harry dear, how about you have tea with the rest of us?" Molly offered kindly.
"Alright, thank you." Harry had to except it, he felt obliged to do what they wanted, they had been so good to him.
Molly was strerring him away when from the open window a gust of wind came. Harry turned around in the distance he could see her. "Hedwig!" He cryed and out stenched an arm for her to land.
Hedwig flew over majestically and nipped Harry's figure affectedly "Hedwig I'm so glad your back." Harry told her.
Hedwig had climbed to his shoulder and nipped his ear kindly. Harry, Hedwig and Molly went to the dining room were they were greeted by the rest of the Wesalys.
"Oh Harry you got your letter, excellent! Put Hedwig on Eroll's perch and have tea with us."
Harry did as he was told he put Hedwig on Eroll's dining room perch and went to the only avalable seat next to Autor and Ron.
As tea and busicutes were being servered Harry opened the letter. "Oh no."
"What wrong Harry?" Ron asked.
"Dear is something wrong?" Molly asked looking truly concered.
"Ill read out loud."
'Dear Harry and all Weaslys
I am so happy for you Harry, that you get to be away from the muggles I wish I could be away from mine, I'm sorta jealous, alright I'm very jealous. My days have been boring but now I might be in real trouble. When I had to go shopping my muggles could not see things, because they are muggle. The letter that they got told them they won't be able to see it because their muggle, but still I had to do alot of fighting to get them in. When we get in they were rude to Tom the owner, but Tom was nice and gave them a map and gave them advice. We go to the bank to exscage their money for wizard money and they had the never the nerve to ask if my parents left me any money! Can you believe that? The goblin Grirk was his name he told them that there is money in an accont but only I when I'm an adult and have a key can have the money. Well they were just furious that they couldn't have my money. They were so emabracing at the bank, you just can't take toughs people anywhere. when we got home Eleonore thought that I was rude to them and she wanted an apology. Well that really wasn't gonna happen, I said nothing to her and she demeaned an apology again. Still I was quite and said nothing to her. Than the strangest thing happened, Lloyd came in and defened me, me from his own mother!
It was very strange, normaly Lloyd has always turned a blind eye and deaf ears to anything about me, but he stood up for me. From my anger at my grandmother I had accidentaly created magic, I had made snowflakes and ice just outside of my room were we argued. I got a letter from the Minstery of magic telling me not to do underage/ out-of-school magic or else. But in fear more magic happened, my stuff was floating and I really didn't mean to put a spell on them it just happened. And when the stuff cashed to the ground some of it brock and in my hands they repaired themselves, so that is even more magic. Naturally I got yet another letter and I imagine they were furious. I don't really know I didn't open it I gave it to Lloyd since he helped me out before, and he wrote them back. I am aware that Lloyd has done a lot more for me then he has ever, he has not only told his own mother to leave me alone but now has written to the Min. of Magic on my behave asking that they understand that it was accidental magic and not me prcating at home. I don't know what will happen next, nothing to do but wait.
I wonder if my relationship with Lloyd is changing, if he is changing. It would be nice to have an adult looking out for me. It would be nice but I don't need him, Ive gotten on with out him before. I don't think I'm in trouble now that I think about it. I don't think I could write to you if I was in trouble; so what Lloyd wrote them must have worked. I think I'm going to be okay, I think that with a little help and training I will have control over my magic. I hope Hogwarts can help so I won't have to worry about being in trouble over my vacations.
So I'll wrap up this already too long letter. I am jealous that your away and I am not. I was in trouble but I am fairly sure that has been cleared up now. I look forward to see you, Harry and all the Weaslys I can see. I hope we can be good friends, Harry thinks we will. Mrs. weasly thank you so much for the present, I have not gotten it yet but just the guest of caring warms my heart. Thank you so much, I really appreciate what ever it is.
Hugs to you all
Elly
Harry and the Weaslys were silent as they had to take a lot in but finally one of them spook.
"I like her shes silly, sounds fun." Ginny said.
The twins grined the miscuus smirk that usually means trouble "I like her too." "Me too, she talks funny." "And shes taken a fancy to you Mum."
"She sounds sweet, but I don't like that she calls her family by their names.." Molly
"Mum they are awful to her they don't desevr respect." Ron defened.
"They are rasing her and that deserv respect." Molly said firmly but not harshly.
"I can't believe they wanted her money." Aurthur said
"Well its like Mum said they raising her they might need money." Percy said
"Then they should have asked if they were left their own money not hers." Moll said.
"Besides they don't need money, they have plenty." Harry said and the rest looked at him strangly.
"Well she lives near me and our familyes are well off." Harry said the subject of money always him uncomfetable excaily around the Weaslys.
"I hope shes not in trouble." Harry said
"I'm sure she's fine, Dad what do you think?" Ron
"I think she'll be fine if she can stay out of trouble till she gets to Hogwarts." Aurthur said.
"I'm sure she will." Molly said sincerly.
Foe a while all was well as they chated and had tea and lunch.
"Oh good heavens I wonder if she knows how to get to Hogwarts." Molly voiced aloud, alarmend "Harry do you know if she knows?"
"I don't know, I wished I had asked." Harry said it seemend obvious now.
"Well all we can do is be there and help her, we can get there early and wait for her and help when she getts there." Aurthur "Harry you know her you'll find her.."
"Our families don't know that each other is magical." Harry said quickly
"I don't understand Harry dear." Molly said
"My family doesn't like magic so they can't know that Elly is a witch and my is shammed that I'm a wizard so the Ross family dose not know that I'm a wizard. Uncle Vernon and Mr. Ross knew each before and their becoming friends. I can't help, I don't know what to do." Harry said miserably.
"Its alright Harry we will think of something." Aurthur clapped Harry on the back.
"We can right to her, Percy has Hermes now, we don't have to wait for Eroll." Ron suggested eagerly.
"That could work will do that but I would prefer if we were there with her."
"Well its not like they stick around Harry's muggles. So we wait for his muggles to leave than we help Elly." Ron concluded
"That's brilliant!" The twins announced.
"We can do that right Mum and Dad?" Ginny asked eagerly.
"I'm sure that will work, will try that, excellent thinking Ron."
"Alright I'll get Hermes." Percy said and went to his room for his owl.
So Molly wrote a note to exsplain to Elly how platform 9 3/4 works and they the Weasly family plus Harry would find her when her family left. They instructed Hermes like the other owls to only go to Elly when she was alone.
Hermes the handsome tanny, search owl took off like a rocket and smeened eagerer to have something to do.
Harry had hope that Hermes would get the job done and would be back with a responce.
