Description Day 29 of the daily doodle series... drawn on February the 4th...
Yeah, my daily doodles have gotten really out of sync at the moment.

This drawing was a practice for drawing an eye, as you can probably tell.
I followed this tutorial here: design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/… ;
It is really great and probably why I managed to do such a good eye. If anyone else has tried this, link your attempt down below, I'd love to see it!

Oh yeah, sorry about the name...

If anyone has any feedback for me, or especially any suggestions for what I should draw in the future I would love to hear it!

Nice! That looks like a pretty handy tutorial (although it concerns me slightly that it never gives you a photograph to reference from). I like the bit where it showed the shape of the eye lid with those form lines. Next time perhaps, try using a q-tip (cotton bud?) or a bit of tissue to blend the skin with, before you add the final eyelash details - especially with the softer pencils.

Thank you very much for your great comment!
I found the tutorial really good. I suppose a photograph for reference would have been useful, I'm kind of used to not using references unfortunately.

I remember it said you should have a blending stick or something, which I did not have, so maybe I should try and use a bit of tissue next time. Or try and find a cotton bud if we have any. I do know that the skin looks a little rough.

Thanks again for your constructive comment!

Generally it's always worth finding a photograph. Working off other's drawings can be good, but every time you emulate their style even unconsciously, in a realism drawing, you apply your own lens of style and it can get further and further from the original without even noticing it.

You're probably right. Though I think I'm getting better at using references!
