uhhh the series is that bad huh, gave up around episode 20 and never looked back. Reading DJW formspring posts has been a real eye opener for me on how unprofessional you can be. It's weird comparing his responses to Matt Wayne and Eugene Sons, there so professional and nice about it. He doesn't take criticism very well, he also doesn't seem to know much about animation he has never once mentioned his designs were tailored to be animation friendly, which they haven't, Matt Youngberg probably takes care of all of that. It's also amazing how he writes off shows like Futurama and Xiaolin Showown either for having human designs(or something simpsons esque, cartoon designs with human like movement), a style that doesn't show off shape, graphic lines or popping colors(dcau had none of that but did have nice contrast graphics and an designer who now how to use watercolor and gouache), or not being instantly gratifying except for the original Ben 10. It's also strange he hasn't seen looney tunes since he was a kid being as he says he watched them too much as a kid, yet fellow writer Matt Wayne can impressively critique to Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes, mentioning favorites. Is anyone else freaked the head writer might actually know more about animation then the actually designer!!

Really?!! He criticized shows for having HUMAN designs and animation? Wow. I knew he was a troll, but still... Well, I also remember him saying Generator Rex's artstyle wasn't really good, so I guess it shouldn't surprise that much. But still, this is kinda shocking.

Actually, I believe NRG's armor is easy to open while that other alien had his armor sealed. That energy being is a criminal, so its logical that his armor is deadlocked to prevent his escape. Its like Tychus Findley's marine armor.

Darinas In reply to AngelFreddy [2014-04-01 21:39:58 +0000 UTC]

Well, true, but even then it seems ridiculous that you can open it THAT easily. I mean, last time I checked marine armors in Starcraft don't open up just by falling to the ground. Otherwise the Terran Army would be pretty lame XD

I like to pretend that 11 year old Ben is 10 year old Ben.

That's another case of continuity error in action. Omniverse tries to capitalize on the timeskip between the original series and Alien Force. The only problem is that Ben turned 16 in Ultimate Alien, so they can't only go 5 years back...which is what Omniverse does.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Darinas In reply to Ben10Coldjustice [2013-11-26 15:42:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. To think people complained about 15-16 years old Ben being "bland" and "having no personnality", including the guys who did Omniverse of all people! Apparently, in their mind, having a personnality means "being an obnoxious moron"--'

I know that's just a subjective point of view, but even without counting it, Omniverse is FULL of continuity errors that make Kevin becoming nice in AF being acceptable by comparison. Like take "Frogs of War", the episode you took this pic from; It was more or less established at the beginning of Omniverse that Earth had become an open system, and aliens now lived peacefully with humans; in fact, you get several scenes of alien civilians going around in broad daylight, interacting with humans, and so on; in fact, this was essentially the premise of the show. Plus, Bellwood has a world-famous superhero who turns into alien, aliens have been trying to invade the world several times by now... yet, at the beginning of this episode, THE EXISTANCE OF ALIENS LIVING UNDER BELLWOOD IS PRESENTED AS A REVEAL, and people go all alien racism. WHAT. THE. HECK ?!!

And don't even get me started with how they completely ruined the potentially awesome Malware story arc by making it a confused mess toward the end. Did the writers even consult themselves to make sure their episodes were matching in continuity ?!

The people who complained about Ben having no personality in Alien Force/Ultimate Alien must not understand two things;

A. A person will become more mature with time.

B. Ben began acting closer to his original self from Season 3 of Alien Force and beyond. Omniverse just took away his maturity to shut fans up.

The Incursean Arc is just a mess in general.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Darinas In reply to MaxwellCohen5211997 [2013-12-02 12:47:27 +0000 UTC]

Exactly; I re-watched Bird of a Feather with a friend this weekend. That episode actually had Ben OUTSMART an opponent. I really miss this Ben, who could actually make wise decision and be smart. Why do fans feel he has more personnality as an idiot who can't pick the right alien and is always wrong? I heard even those who LIKED Omniverse thought Ben had become unlikable.

Honestly, was it that complicated to just bring back some of his mischeviousness from the Original show while keeping his maturity and intelligence?

Yeah, the Inkursean story arc was a mess. Nothing really important happened for the first episodes, and when the finale happened, it was a complete mess. I was amazed the Albedo story arc managed to become even worse than this in just one episode.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MaxwellCohen5211997 In reply to Darinas [2013-12-02 20:47:56 +0000 UTC]

Fans feel Ben has more personality as a bumbling idiot who keeps getting the wrong alien because...wait for it...he was like that in the original series. Also, Omniverse fans find Ben unlikable? I bet they miss the mature Ben too.

No, it wasn't complicated, especially since Alien Force Season 3 and Ultimate Alien already did that.

For me, the Albedo Arc began falling apart at A Fistful of Brains, which was where I saw Feedback as the Deus Ex Machina that he really is, although that wasn't the only problem. Seriously, Feedback isn't stronger than an Ultimate Alien. On the bright side, Blukic and Driba weren't involved in the finale of an arc for once.

I just pretend that A Fistful of Brains and For A Few Brains More never happened.

Darinas In reply to MaxwellCohen5211997 [2013-12-02 22:09:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, if you check some criticism on both TvTropes and in other places, people actually agree that Ben's obnoxiousness is starting to make him seriously unlikable.

Ew, no. Season 3 of Alien Force essentially made Ben immature rather than mischevious, though unlike Omniverse they AT LEAST leave him with the badassery to back up his ego (wereas in Omniverse he is so utterly incompetent you got to wonder how he once saved the Universe). As for Ultimate Alien... well, it depended on the episode. What I am talking about is balancing the "fun-loving" side of his personnality with maturity and badassery. Like having him not boasting constantly about how he saved the Universe, but rather snarking occasionnally (instead of making atrocious puns and dumb jokes), while still keeping him nice and very capable of kicking ass.

Lol, tell me about that. To me, Feedback was a deus ex machina since the Malware finale, when he was brought back to life with no explanation. Then when he conventiently turns out to be Argost's weakness. And now, he also can defeat Ultimate Humongousaur, even though this Ultimate Alien has NOTHING to do with energy/electricity?! Come on! They aren't even trying anymore!

Also, there was the part with the Ditto chase... gosh that was lame! I have a friend who actually likes Omniverse, and even HE thought that was disappointing. Why did Ben even think turning into Ditto was a good idea? Ditto dies even if one of his clones is killed, that's like making him far easier to kill! Would have been far more badass to just have Ben fight the predators with aliens.

It was stated on the Ben 10 Wiki, but I don't know why they removed that weakness. My guess is that it was to justify Ditto having more screen time than Echo Echo.
