Description This gown took a lot of work. I had to draft the pattern from ones taken from original garments in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London before I could even start construction. The bodice has a detachable centerpiece that is attached by 44 (22 on each side) self covered buttons. The entire dress is made of shot taffeta and all the trim was made from the same fabric. This gown is worn over a corset, chemise and bustle which I also made.

The corset is laced to 26 in over the corset.

This gown has a train that can be hooked up under the skirt (as in this picture). When down it trails nicely to about a foot behind the gown (sweep train)

Very pretty. I would love to see a front view and a detail of the trimming. How many yards/meters of fabric did you use for the gown?

I will see if I have another photo of this one. I believe I used about 5-7 meters. The skirt doesn't use as much material as most other bustle skirts as it has a predominantly flat front and sides. The bodice again takes very little, even with the ruffled centerpiece.
