Awwww, thank you so much! >3< I totally know what you mean - you can accredit his less-than-picturesque image in the eyes of many artists and fans to the Silver age of DC comics - he was originally debuted as a tall, skinny, older fellow in his mid-40s (at best), wearing skin-tight spandex in green and purple.
... Obviously, I prefer the modern Eddie that has EVOLVED from that. xD ... And NOT the Jim Carry version. D: -shudders at the thought-
... Lol, sorry, okay - done rambling now. I'm a bit of a Batman geek in general, but especially when it comes to the Riddler, so - mini-character-history lesson for you there. xD
The version this is most prominantly based off of, aside from the Animated Series (1992 version), is his depiction in the Hush storyarc - not Hush Returns, but Hush. If you've never read it, as a fellow Riddler fan, I would highly suggest doing so if you get the chance. GREAT storyarc, and DEFINATELY Eddie at the top of his game as a frightening antagonist ...
Okay. NOW I'm done rambling. xD Did I mention a, 'thank you so much'? :3
