This is an absolutely amazing piece of art. The way the drawing so accurately matches the photo is stunning. I love how the lighting is coming at the same angel. Because they're opposite from one another it makes me want to see the lightings coming from opposite directions, but the way to you drew it is utterly perfect. It really gives the effect that they're truly sitting next to each other. The facial expressions are so intent and focused. Just looking at it makes me motivated to keep working on my art. You're piece is inspiring. The colors also look great, the pop of red is fun and the gray tiled corners are a cool element. Have a great day. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

this picture seems to takes things to perfection.
drawing and photography are fitting seamlessly. the direction the light comes from is the same on human and portrait. the perfect symmetry of the two-dimensional background, the exact same size the real and the fake man have. the only imperfections are planned: the sketch-like shadowing of the pencil-human, in order to stress the contrast between reality and paper-fiction. the detail and pattern of the persons hat, for instance, are missing in the drawn version. the strong, red color of the pencil reappears in the shoes, contrasting the grayscale-drawing. like a yin and yang, where yin contains a part of yang and vice versa, the sketch-person is the one holding the camera and the man the one, with the pencil in his hands. also, like a yin and yang, this pictures symbolizes completeness: the sketch, as a representative of all art-forms, carried by the human mind and accomplished by a forming, drawing hand, is nothing but the raw form of more complex descendants of its kind, such as a painting, where oftentimes color is included, a sculpture, with its three-dimensionality, or more modern ones like digital paintings, or animated cartoons, if motion and time are added. photography, on the other side of the spectrum, receives the impressions an environment offers, instead of actively forming it. it's the photographer, who has to discover the beauty that's already existing. although, especially in modern days, many in-betweens exist, this picture can be seen as a metaphor for the constant breathing in and breathing out of visiual arts: a metaphor for shaping, as for receiving, for building and for seeing, for creating and for enjoying, for selling and for consuming. a metaphor for art.

This really speaks with the shadowing that you did versus what a camera sees. The detail on the pencil side is divine int the fact that it looks so realistic while at the same time retaining the look of being on paper. It also looks like you are looking in a mirror at yourself from two different views; the colorful view and the black and white. In the end you are one in the same and although both outlooks are different in many aspects they are still the same soul. Also there are limitations on both sides. With a camera you are only allowed what what the lens can see versus what you can do with a pencil and vis versa. The camera can bring out more than the pencil can even begin to achieve.

No, understandable because pencil can take longer, but the picture can capture all that is in the len's view where something as small as a bug or flower is harder to achieve with a pencil. As for more creativity, that is one thing I don't believe is restricted to just a pencil. We can do so much more with cameras than we could before, but at the same time I can create something that doesn't exist in real life. There are so many pros and cons on each side, but there is one thing that both can achieve and that is what the artist wants it to be.

The critique was fair, except for one line, "The camera can bring out more than the pencil can begin to achieve."
Making a piece with pencils takes much more time and effort than taking a picture. Making a realistic piece with pencil takes years of practice.
You can't "doodle" with a camera. Your creativity flows much more with a pencil. You can draw whatever you want with it.

I'm curious about your process. Do you frame your subjects with the paper and then draw over it digitally, or do you take 1 picture, draw on the paper, and then take a second picture?

Supposedly The Phone Will Ring
Right After You Do This.

Just read the little stories and
Think of a wish as you scroll all
The way to the bottom. There is
A message there - then make your
Wish.

Stories

I'm 13 years old, and I wished
That my dad would come home from
The army, because he'd been having
Problems with his heart and right
Leg It was 2:53 p .m.. When I made
My wish. At 3: 07 PM . (14 minutes
Later), the doorbell rang, and
There my Dad was, luggage and all!!

I'm Katie and I'm 20 and I've been
Having trouble in my job and on the
Verge of quitting. I made a simple
Wish that my boss would get a new
Job. That was at 1:35 and at 2:55
There was an announcement that he
Was promoted and was leaving for
Another city. Believe me...this
Really works!!!

My name is Ann and I am 45 years
Of age. I had always been single
And had been hoping to get into a
Nice, loving relationship for many
Years. While kind of daydreaming(and right after receiving this email)
I wished that a quality person would
Finally come into my life. That was at
9:10 AM on a Tuesday. At 9:55 AM
A FedEx delivery man came into my
Office.He was cute, polite and
Could not stop smiling at me. He
Started coming back almost everyday(even without packages) and asked me
Out a week later . We married 6
Months later and now have been
Happily married for 2 years.

What a great email it was!!

Just scroll down to the end, but
While you do, think of a wish.
Make your wish when you have completed
Scrolling. Whatever age you are, is the
Number of minutes it will take for your
Wish to come true. Ex.you are 25 years
Old, it will take 25 minutes for your wish
To come true).

However, if you don't send this to
People in 5 minutes, you will have bad
Luck for years!!

Go for it!!!
!

That is a piece to stand behind with pride as people rightly stand before in awe. I have seen that before so I am not certain that it is you that has created it but, regardless, it is surely a marvelous execution and piece to behold...

I really like that they create each others. I prefer the pencil, even though this one is photorealistic, cause you draw what you see in your mind, not outside like the camera does.
