I really wish I could have worn this long since I think animefest is the last actual con i'll be wearing Hana at. We didn't have much time (my fault -I spent lots of time with my bf that morning ) So we got some shots across this beautiful background at the hotel. Perfect for hana!

When my boyfriend comes up in a few weeks, we'll be going to the Mountains and be taking some photos there

Construction Notes:
The costume took overall about 6 months to run through a first pass and then the 2nd pass. The inner layers are made of casa satin, hand painted and are fully lined. The outer kimono was ombre dyed using rit dye on cotton fabric. I cut out almost 700 petals and then heat n bonded them onto the kimono. The headdress is literally glued into the wig and secured using a headband and nails. The main pieces are made using insulation foam covered with smooth on resin. The obi and bow were made of satin taffeta, hand painted, and craft foam was used to create the "interfacing" to make the bow stand up. The headpiece in the back was foam board base with tons of extensions glued and hairsprayed over it. It is attached to the wig by two clips that are clipped into the wefts of the wig before putting it on.

Awards: Judges Award (Anime Matsuri 2012), Best in Show (Tokyo in Tulsa 2012)
