I was kidding anyway, I'd never be able to draw that well. I've missed a house with a ball from 4 feet away.
I like the style of your drawings, I think your one of the better drawers I see on dA. The chaos of the way you draw looks great.

i hate uniform and organization and obsessive cleanliness. thats why i have a bit of a problem with anime - its so neat and tidy and hollow, theres no feeling or solidity to it. but thats my opinion, and i think i share it with very few people.

Many people have that opinion, but its a necessity. The Japanese get so into the plot, everything needs to be visible for future reference. For American, and I believe European too (If I'm wrong, please correct me.) we have short story arcs so we don't forget everything so quickly. What the Japanese do tend to be better TV series due to the longevity of it, but we make stuff more akin to movies.
Of course it depends entirely on the medium, and the artists personal flavor. (Any TV series has more personality if it was a movie, or a comic.)
Well, it all depends on how you look into it. The Japanese shows I like I get involved with the plot, more-so than the art, and everything else is a short in comparison so the art really has to hook me to get my attention.

i dont have a problem with a lot of the tv shows cause they're kinda fun and light hearted, and Akira is a good movie, among many others. its just when you get to really look at the characters without their dialogue and movement they're actually very basic and one dimensional. they have no defining flaws or individuality, its just the same shape head and same mouth and same nose on a shorter or taller body with different eyes. its the simplicity that cannot hope to reflect personality. of course, im not the one to judge, im not a great follower of anime, and have only really seen Studio Ghibli movies :/

I really like this one and your sky backgrounds have definately improved. The contrast between the foreground and background styles are pretty high but this is not neccassaryily a bad thing(I hope not I do it myself) but if your didn't have a purpose for doing it then yeah It prbably should be handdrawn.
For stuff like that I do a real quick job by printing it out and getting some tracing type of paper and just quickly cross hatching. Since youve done the work of deciding where is dark and light you can quickly go over it with your pen with light quick strokes and not worry about the end result as youv'e already accomplished it.
Then put them back togeter in photoshop. Though you did say on the frontpage that you were getting away from photoshop. Remember it's just a tool and cant replace good art.
Sorry this is so long but I think you definately have a lot of potential and are definately getting better, just keep it up.

No problem, I've been hoping for some critiques on my own stuff as well but havent received any yet. Luckily there are alot of great artists on this site who can share there wisdom with me and I'm sure I'll get some soon.
