I really love these, the attention to detail and texture is awesome. About how big was each individual drawing?

It can definitely be tricky at times. Just keep at it, and some good ones will come out.

These are really cool. You might want to check out I think he's looking to collaborate with someone too. Your creatures kind of remind me of him.

It'd be incredible if someone tried to make some of my creatures in Spore! I didn't even think about that. But, I also don't have Spore, so I couldn't anyway.

Yeah, I think I've got it now. You know what I'm talking about; but I thought the comment would be better posted here, since they're all here together.
Anyway, what I like about these animals is that they aren't stylized to produce a specific effect, like so many other fantastic animals. I mean, someone will draw a monster of hide and horn that obviously is intended to look bad-ass, and therefore looks made-up. These animals have exactly that same impish disregard for our normal expectations that real creatures have, and therefore they produce the same sort of imaginative impasse that real things produce; they don't demand any reaction at all, besides mere attendance. One creature may have a horn, but it's not there to make it look scary or cool or noble; it's just there. Take it or leave it.
To be able to achieve that effect with as little effort as you have seemingly made here (I mean that these appear to my eye like unplanned sketches rather than carefully thought out studies) is actually pretty impressive. You must have a knack.

So, what you're basically saying is that they look real/genuine because they're more casual? I can definitely dig that.
Thanks.

Not just casual, but unaccountable. Inexplicable, at least thematically. Like real things are.

amazing collection. simple, delicate, unsettling. I especially enjoy the crustacean-type one. are you a student of the arts if I may ask, or some sort of biologist maybe? I am starting genetics next year and throughout my preparation studies I keep being inspired to do art that if I did it right, I would expect it to have the same feel yours does. sorry for bothering you.

No sorry necessary. I graduated with an illustration and animation degree. This was in an effort to start populating a world that I plan on writing about. (Plus, it's just fun to pull weird creatures from your head.)
I have a pretty intense fascination with nature and animal life as well, so it all really kind of comes together from various areas.
I definitely recommend doing some anatomical and other creative drawings when you get into that genetics program. Both therapeutic and a way to apply some of the stuff you learn in a more visual format.

I'm quite curious to see how you'd interpret their colors/textures. Sure, you can color them in, just as long as you credit me for the original artwork.

Well, thank you. Yes, I'm creating a world. My quotable objective is to make Tolkien (eventually) look like a slackass.
