Good question. Β I don't know. Β It was supposed to be released as part of a larger anthology at a film festival. Β But I'm probably gonna release it soon on my patreon site.

I never get tired of Film Noir / pulp style illustrations, especially when they're as well done as this one.
Aside from the great layout, the sexy girls, and the mood, which you captured perfectly, I really like the subtle hint of elements in the background (the lampshade, the picture frame and the transom window.)
Also, this single piece tells a story, and that's not always easy to accomplish.
Well done.

Thank you, James. I need to give credit to filmmaker Jurii Kirnev, who actually is the one who came up with the story. I tried to bring all the elements together in this, the final scene. Wish I had the talent and patience you had to do complete stories...

Haha, it's gonna take a while to finish the whole story. I have it plotted out now for the most part.

Thanks! That was the intent. This was supposed to one panel out of a 6-8 page comic.

Is the comic available somewhere on the web for casual viewers?

No, it isn't published yet. I think the plan might be for a limited run, not sure if there is a plan for the web.

Thanks, Jakob. This piece got held up a long time because I couldn't decide on a visual style. In the end I went with my original instinct.
Actually the hair colors were supposed to be reversed too, so I might have to try that.

This is beautiful work - construction, line work, shading, atmosphere and eroticism are all there.
Do you ever show how you build a picture from rough sketch to final piece?

I like the layout and composition/background. It draws you into the drawing.
Did you read the story, choose a scene then create your own idea for the illustration?
π: 0 β©: 1
BenTanArt In reply to DanAndPam [2011-10-10 16:45:12 +0000 UTC]
The story was a comic script. So many of the elements were already set. I was supposed to illustrate the whole thing, but I'm not sure I can, so I decided to at least do the key story frame.
