How about one of these for your boy Valrin? Maybe the one fourth from the bottom right? You thinking of having it being able to shoot or just have the end as a energy blade?

Hey, thank you very much for considering the whole idea! I've been toying with the idea a staff-looking omni-weapon for Valrin ever since you first mentioned! I've got a bit of story in my head of how he actually gets the weapon, but it will have to wait until I resume work on the current story... (stupid insomnia making me unwilling to write...)

Isn't that staff you mentioned the one Gemma uses in one of your pics? My idea for Valrin's omni-weapon was that he would summon it to cast a biotic dampening field, so it's more something he'll shoot with rather than use as a melee weapon. What do you think of the first strange-looking staff from the bottom right? Do you think it is possible to entirely "omnify" that thing?

Love that idea! Yeah, I can totally omnify that one. Do you picture the whole staff omnified or just the parts at the top and bottom, leaving the handle part for Valrin to carry on his back or something?

Berserker79 In reply to ShaunsArtHouse [2018-06-24 17:40:23 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! Happy to hear you like the idea!

Admittedly, I originally pictured the whole staff omnified, but leaving a handle part for Valrin to place it on his back (where Shep usually carries the shotgun) actually sounds better. Not sure it's possible, but maybe the part I highlighted in this picture [link] might be used as the handle and everything else is omnified and visible only when Valrin activates the weapon. What do you think?

Ohhh I see what you mean. Yeah, definitely can do. I'll get it done for you when I get home and I'll have a version with just the handle too.

I always get the corrupted acolyte staff, its good for a blood mage. But in act 1 I use the chanter's staff. My lilithe's mage build is entropy, spirit , Blood Mage. And initially she is a shape shifter...

Berserker79 In reply to gothiquemortician [2016-02-25 22:13:35 +0000 UTC]

The Corrupted acolyte staff is not bad at all considering it is pretty cheap to buy. While playing as a mage is great, in DA2 I only have one playthrough as a mage because I like too much Bethany. Anyway, for my mage Hawke I used Apostate's Courage throughout Act 1, then settled for Cold-Blooded for Acts 2-3 (quite expensive, but perfect for a blood mage who practices elemental cold magic! ).

No problem! I've seen you've put these to good use!

BTW, some of these may need removing doubles and recalculating normals outside for a better look...

LOVE Staves! Something that I've been thinking is, well, most of these staves have pointy parts, right? Wouldn't it be cool for some Warrior class to use a pointy staff like a polearm and fight that way?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Berserker79 In reply to MadNimrod [2014-05-19 21:58:56 +0000 UTC]

That would have been nice to see! You know, I've been talking with another user a while back and we both agreed that the game should have allowed at least mages to take advantage from the presence of blades and such on those staves, for example with an additional melee bonus or improved physical damage... As it is, the blades are great for the looks, but not much use...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MadNimrod In reply to Berserker79 [2014-05-19 22:42:10 +0000 UTC]

Love your collections! But I was wondering, are you going to make the greatswords next?Β That would be really nice to see since most of my Hawkes tend to end up like two-handed warriors.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Berserker79 In reply to Wolffuzz [2014-03-15 10:27:11 +0000 UTC]

The extraction of the greatswords is in the making, see the WIP list on my journal here: [link] . Unfortunately, extracting and converting objects such as weapons is a bit annoying compared to characters, so it might take a while before I get all the greatswords done...

Would it be possible eventually to get the spears the Qunari throw? Just 1 kind as far as I know.

Berserker79 In reply to AdahihiInada [2014-03-07 17:26:59 +0000 UTC]

There's a whole set of spears in the DA2 files, but I never examined those in much detail. I'll take a look to see which one is the Qunari's spear.

It's great seeing them all together like this, my favourite is Cold Blooded, I always save up for it. Makes fighting the Arishok much easier

Berserker79 In reply to PhilipMessina [2014-03-05 17:32:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

Cold-Blooded happens to be also my favorite staff for a mage Hawke! Besides, I love cold magic: it's so effective against qunari and dragons alike! It's just that I rarely play as a mage in DA2... As you know, I'm pretty fond of Bethany and being a mage Hawke means giving her up...

Well, when it comes to looks the Staff of Parthalan is also my fav, but I'm also quite fond of Apostate's Courage! And when taking into account the actual stats I think Cold-Blooded remains my staff of choice for a mage Hawke!

Finnyanne In reply to Berserker79 [2014-03-02 18:03:47 +0000 UTC]

You are right... but still ... when I saw it for the first time I thought... "Cool, a swordstaff like in old good D&D times" but they did not give any credit to the blade Β
When playing a mage, I prefere staffs with ice enchantment... Qunari do not like ice Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Berserker79 In reply to Finnyanne [2014-03-05 18:11:48 +0000 UTC]

Cold magic and ice spells are my favorite! And not just for dealing with the qunari, but also for dragons of course!

BTW, wish the game designers took a bit more into account the fact that some of these staves have blades. It could have been cool if those added some bonus for melee attacks or maybe an additional physical damage bonus.
