When Captus returned to Earth 2000 years after the Gem War, She didn't have any real guide on what to do. She didn't have any friends left and she was not one for causal conversation, so Captus kept to herself for a long time until the modern day. Fighting in several human conflicts had tired the wayward gem and tried to find a place to finally settle, which so happened to be a low-rent apartment in the more "Questionable" part of Empire City. There Captus would meet her first friend, a human by the name of Blake who kindly gave her a discount after helping him deal with a group of loan-sharks harassing him. The two of them did eventually became friends but it certain was difficult for Captus to deal with Blake's crappy jokes and "trolling" her(a prelude to her attitude towards Turquoise). Despite this, Captus had found herself comfortable with where she is and managed to acquire personnel effects from the money Captus earned from merc. jobs and odd jobs from Blake.
