Start from the inside out; everybody's got a skull, so learn the parts of it and placements and the size relationships within it. Then learn the muscles as they attach to the skull, because muscles are what cause creases and wrinkles in the skin when you smile or frown or make any kind of expression.
That's a more thorough way to learn facial anatomy, but I just learned what I know (which really isn't a lot) by looking at statues and studying the relationships between features. Kind of a bad place to start, in my opinion, because everything you draw turns out idealized haha
Β Once you figure out how each feature is drawn and why it looks the way it does, then you can start moving them around and changing sizes [within reason, or not
