Description Out of Focus

They rush me through the halls on a bed of pain,
the paramedics who fear I’m a fatal case,
as blood veins throb and swell within my brain.

The CAT scan shows darkened areas like water stains.
“Inconclusive,” says the doctor with furrowed face.
They rush me through the halls on a bed of pain

to an MRI, tuck me into a confining plane.
The technician tells me, “lie still; I brace
myself, blood veins throbbing in my brain.

The deafening ticking echoes my head insane.
They pull me from the cage at a jarring pace
and rush me through the halls on a bed of pain

back to a room of tubes and needles again.
Neurologist informs family, while they embrace,
that blood clots fill the draining veins of my brain

and cause the swelling and my eyes to strain
out of focus. I fade into an eerie, tranquil face
as I’m rushed through halls on a bed of pain
with blood clots clogging my throbbing brain.
